Hitting the wires a moment ago that Gary Kenneth has been brought into the full Scotland squad for some game against The Pharaohs, which I assume is Egypt's top ice-hockey team.

I was under the impression he'd had a mare this season. What gives?

I think he's been fine, although a few mistakes here and there.

I'm more worried about Stephen Crainey....

I watched Bannan play in the Villa v Man U game yesterday, and he didn't look out of place. Why do Scotland have a recent history of producing a disproportionate amount of good midfielders compared to any other position?

I thought Bannan looked very good on Saturday - from the bits I watched. I listened to the first half of the Man U game in the car, and I have to say there was a little wave of nostalga every time I heard the commentator talk about Bannan on the ball driving at the Man U defence.

Paul Caddis and Murray Davidson added:

Revised Scotland squad

Goalkeepers: Bell (Kilmarnock), Gordon (Sunderland).
Defenders: Bardsley (Sunderland), S Caldwell (Wigan), Wilson (Liverpool), Crainey (Blackpool), Kenneth (Dundee Utd), Caddis (Swindon)
Midfielders: Adam (Blackpool), Bannan (Aston Villa), Commons (Derby), Fletcher (Manchester United), Maloney (Celtic), Robson (Middlesbrough), Bryson (Kilmarnock), Davidson (St Johnstone)
Forwards: Goodwillie (Dundee United), Kyle (Hearts), Mackie (Queens Park Rangers).

At least it's just the Faroes....

Paul Caddis

Adam must be really pushing for a first XI starting place, has had an excellent season so far for Blackpool.

And arguably was the catalyst for our improved second half showing against Spain.

Just been reading the farcical goings on about the squad Levein is putting together for the game.

Apparently he tried to call up Kirk Broadfoot, Don Cowie, Kevin Thompson and Mark Wilson, but they are all injured. Murray Davidson may not now be fit, no-one seems to know. James McArthur has therefore been called up, but might not be needed.

Deary me. I have to say, I think I have been playing pretty well this season, and am frankly a little put out not to have even been considered, that said, I'm injured.

Kenneth hasn't been as bad as some would have you believe - he's been OK, nothing more. Our problems have been mostly in midfield and right-back.

Bannan looked excellent from the Villa/Man U MOTD highlights. He looks like he's gonna have a great career.

Indeed, he was a bright spot in the Scotland U21 game at Easter Road recently; easliy our most dangerous performer.

Shame Kenneth and Goodwille aren't starting, but hopefully can come on later and impress.

It is not a shame Keneth os not startimg, it is a blessed relief. His time has not yet come and I wuld not like him to have another nightmare to render his longer term ambitions dead and buried.
