I actually enjoed that game, even though we could have lost. Thought they played very well, but we created a good few chances. With Douglas and Russell out wide, we had good width and had a fair bit of sucess switching and opening up the play, which was good. Goodwillie was very good too, thought that all the front three played well, and had good chances. Midfiled wasn't too clever though. Robertson played well, but desipte being happy with the midfield set up for once, noone was protecting the back 4. As soon as they won, or we gave the ball away in the middle (which was quite often), they got the ball stright to one of their attacker and get them running right onto our defence, which was frustrating. Did it all game. They looked a good side though, organised, and dangerous going forward. Thought Armstrong did well enough when he was on, although didn't really get involved too much, looked like had a good touch and awareness, so will hopefully get more chances to show what he can do. Main negative was Dixon - poor all game, both defensively and mostly going forward, where most passes went astrary. Overall, happy enough, we had 4 or 5 good other chances to score - Daly especially - so it could have worked. And the ref was good. |

Yeah, we could have lost, and Killie were good, but I think we just about deserved to win. Lots of good chances and the formation (433/451 with Douglas and Russell pushed right up in support of Goodie) looked well balanced. Good performances from the front three, Buaben and Pernis. Robertson was okay before he went off. Gomis continued his recent horrible habit of playing too many loose passes and taking too many unnecessary chances in our half. Stuart Armstrong started well when he replaced Robertson and looks a prospect; barely touched the ball second half though. The defence was shaky, as per recent form. The sooner we get some defenders back the better. More positives than negatives. Goodie aside, the most pleasing aspects for me were the perfomances of Douglas and Russell. |

There was a guy called Douglas Russell in my class at High School. Bit of a tit if memory serves. I enjoyed the game, ding-dong, end-to-end. I was frequently distracted however by the smaller of the two boys sitting next to me (who are admittedly my sons) who kept insisting I fix his Kinder Surprise yacht, from which the paper sail kept detaching. Damn fiddly and I missed some important sounding incidents whilst engaged in this mini-origami operation, judging by the whoops, ooohs and grrrrs of the crowd. That Eremenko is a diving c*nt though, eh? |
