Been a bit of talk in the papers about our strikers, saying we've a lot competing for the places. I've felt the opposite, that it's Daly and Goodwillie far ahead of the rest, interms of performace and goals.

Anyone expecting, or wanting Russell, Cada or Shala to start more? Or just talk trying to keep the pressure on Daly / Goodwillie.

I desperately wish Cads or Russell would force their way ahead of Daly, as I hate to watch big Jon go about his business. However, I don't think either have.

I'd much rather see Dow or Hilson come into contention in the wide areas, as this would give us much more interesting options of playing Conway or particularly Swanson in different roles. And would have prevented us playing the horrible midfield four we've gone with since Conway & Swanson have been out recently.

I think it would make us a much more exciting team if we could replace big Jon for a pacey younger striker. Goodwillie's been rescuing us at the moment and providing his own competition at the moment

I've been disappointed with big bad Jon this season but he showed enough when he came on last night to suggest that he's still better than the other options.

I also think that the problem lies in midfield rather than up front. I'd be happy with Goodie plus any one from three if we had a bit of width to stretch the opposition. As things stand we're relying entirely on the midfielders threading passes through the eye of a needle or the strikers doing all the work themselves. Unfortunately we only have one striker remotely capable of doing that.

I note that Houston correctly identified the source of the problems in terms of a lack of width. Good that he's noticed but I do wonder if he'll now act on this revelation or continue plodding along with the same horrible constipated formation we've seen all season.

I think he's said that before though.

I think away from home, he's happy with a stuffy team that doesn't create much, but is hard to break down, then Daly or Goodwillie scores 1 and that's it.

At home, doesn't seem to work.

Meanwhile, rumourtrage (ok, I read it on Twitter) that Scott Allan's broken his leg in training. Unconfirmed, mind.

ETA: Now soft confirmed. Bums.

He is 18, he WILL have far worse weeks than this one. We can only hope that he makes a full physical recovery and takes the recovery time to reflect on his lapse of standards and realises what a wonderful opportunity he has before home, one not to be pissed up against a wall.
