It's hard as someone who agree's with some (not all I'll quickly add) that the Tea Party supposedly stand for. As they do border on the insane, and attract idiots, but I can't help but agree with some of them. But they give a bad name to a lot of good ideas and principles. I'm not sure Obama ever had support to do what he wanted to do. As long as the economy isn't doing well, he'll have to put up with it. He said things would get better, they've not as much as he said. |

Agree with what? They don't have any policies: just an agenda of being against things. And anyway, what am I missing about November 11th?

They're clearly favouring smaller government, lower taxes, less of the bail out stuff. They are against the health care plan etc, but it's a valid argument to have, they have an alternative too. They're repeatedly called libertarians, desptite not really being it. They enjoy being divisive. |

11-11-10? If you take that as binary, that's 2430 in decimal. And 2430 A.D. is a story by Isaac Asimov about the date when the world achieves a "perfection" of being populated entirely by humans, with all the other animals extinct. The short story was commissioned, then rejected, by IBM's in-house magazine. And IBM, infamously, has experience in providing the IT for a Holocaust. I think you can see where this is headed. Just keep your cat away from mainframes over the next 420 years. Alternatively, you mean the 9th of November, in which case I'll refer you to Stewart Lee. |

What's happening on the 11th of November? Regarding the Tea Party, they are a mental hodgepodge of Ron Paul-style small government libertarians, racists, 9/11 truthers, wing-nut wackjobs, political opportunists and McDonalds-eating-Walmart-shopping-Fox-watching ignorant bumholes. The level of discourse in this country has somehow arrived at "Obama is a terrorist socialist Muslim, hell bent on destroying the fabric of this nation and the only way to restore pride and national identity is to vote (back) in to power the same corporatist scumbags that drove the country off a cliff while the rich got richer and everyone else got anally raped". And, to quote George Carlin, "nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care..." I find it amazing that, since Obama was elected, the opposition party have been petting their lips and digging in their heels and refusing to support any legislation. Statistically, Obama is the most legislatively accomplished President since World War 2 and managed to do some good things. However, the level of obstruction he faced led to complaints about process and half-achieved promises from his campaign. Any person with a bug to bear (and, given the state of the economy and the lack of much significant progress, there are a lot) was looking for an avenue to vent their frustration. Cue the media circus, beginning in January, stating that the opposition party would rise to power based on voter anger... The masses fell in line and trudged to the polls, Slurpees and IPads in hand, to cast their vote for "the other guy", who, as it turns out, just might be someone who crusades against masturbation (God wouldn't like it) or questions the legitimacy of the Civil Rights act. Sentiments of "Don't tread on me" or "Vote the bums out" with their amazingly shallow hyperbole have become the staple in political reporting this year. However, we are where we are.... Having seen the boy Obama on the Daily Show, my initial reaction was "Damn, this guy is a lot smarter than me..." and from what I know of the political process here, he should act as a decent "check and balance" in the system to prevent things like the rampant government cuts that are happening in the UK from taking place. Of course, the political system is a game here, focused on getting re-elected, rather than actually governing. And there are so many different demographics to suck up to and placate. The aforementioned crazies, the Wall Street and Corporate overlords who want all-profits-all-the-time at any cost, the doon-hamey farmers, liberal city types, "Hockey Moms", immigrants ( ) and many more. One of the things that surely can't continue to happen is the opposition blockading every piece of legislation that comes to them in the spirit of electioneering and gamesmanship - now that they are in power, they surely can't continue to achieve and propose nothing (although they did propose to shut down the government [and people still voted for them????]) otherwise they run the risk of the foot being on the other hand and, next election season being called out for being shite and doing nothing. Still, when they have power, Democrats spurn it. When they don't, they roll over and do whatever the opposition wants for fear of being called names. Republicans, when they have power, exploit it and do whatever they want. When they don't, they propagandize and fearmonger everyone in to thinking that theirs is the true light and the way.... Stupid f*cked up comedy political system <_< |
