We really need a win in this game I think, last thing we need, and Houston needs, is poor form that shows no signs of life.

Not sure hibs will be as bad as their last game, could be a dangerous one.

A surpise in the line up, something fresh, would be good for me.

I think we're jiggered. Easy Hibs win 3-0.

Yes, I'll go with the consensus. Hibs to win by a margin of two.

Call me peculiar, but there's something about the shitness of this season that's oddly cathartic. There was always a sense of unreality lurking around last term's success. The current campaign throws it all into perspective, like coming home after a holiday.

Two teams in really shite form. Saturday will tell us a lot about whether Houston's up to the job in the long term. We're at home, we've got better players than Hibs and a more settled team. They've got a new manager and got gubbed by a shite Aberdeen team (natch) last week. Houston's made a few mistakes recently, in my opinion, and needs to make some changes to put a spark back in the team. I genuinely don't know whether he's up to it. Fingers crossed.

Alternatively, if Swanson and Conway are back we might win without those questions being answered.

Agree with freshening up the side a bit in midfield, and perhaps upfront (though I'm unconvinced that we have a better option than a Goodroy/Daly front two). Too many middling performers right now it seems.

Out from: Kenneth, DIxon, Gomis, Buaben, Scott Robertson, Daly, Gooroy

In from: Dow, Cads, Severin, Allen, Hill, Russell, Shala, McCord (assuming either is still not on loan...)

I'm not too concerned with wholesale changes in personnel but it looks to me like Houston is running low on ideas about how best to use the resources we have. If we're going to try to play the same formation as last season (flat midfield with two attacking players out wide) then we need to play players who can work in that formation. If that means dropping some of the more established players then so be it.

I think the difficulty is that I don't think anyone is playing badly, just below previous standards.

Daly will score. Goodwillie is playing well. Dropping them doesn't seem to make sense in that regard, but feels like a change is needed.

Same in midfield. Buaben looked very good vs Celtic, Gomis's standards never really drop below decent. It's be harsh to drop them. But maybe S Robertson deserves a chance to get back to form.

But the team seems to be coasting too much. Cadamateri would be the one easier one to make. Energy and drive is what we need. If we got that from 1 or 2 fresh faces, might spur the rest on.

I don't think our form is that bad. We lost deservedly against Celtic (where they played very well), and then lost deservedly against Motherwell (who are a decent side), but both of those by one goal. Then lost perhaps undeservedly, by one goal, to a late Motherwell goal away from home in a cup competition. There does appear to have been a lack of spark going forward, but we can get that back at home against Hibs. A strong, fast start would be give good impetus to kick on.

2-0 United.

I agree with a lot of that except goodroy, who I think has been excellent. Working incredibly hard with bugger all service.

As on Tuesday night, after another aimless lump up to Daly (which he never won) Goodie turned to Prince imploring with a rare linguistic clarity:

"mahh feet. play it tae mah f**king feet, fir f**k's sake."

As we have gotten worse, he has definetly gotten better and deserves more than we have provided for him.

Would be nice. We seem to be a bit slow starting recently. Except against Aberdeen...

We are on bbc alba tonight and we never lose on gaelic TV so I'll go for either a dull neoni - neoni or maybe an equally dull aeon -neoni for us with Goodwillie scoring a peanas.
