Going by the other thread, I thought the opposite should get a shout. What do you struggle with, can't do, fear doing and so on.

For me, I can't deal with spiders or writing the number 8. Writing it in words is fine, saying it is fine, just writing the figure itself, it fills me with dread. £27.99 or £29.00 when I'm in charge of the pen. As for spiders, nope, not at all. My spare room has spiders in it, I consider it their room now, I refuse to go in it, I didn't even get to play golf this year because my clubs are in that room. Bastards

writing the number 8.

Now, THIS is wierd.

Is it a phobia, or some sort of inability to join up the line?

Maybe he just really likes the Greek lowercase 'delta'?

I wish I could swim really well. No matter how fit I've been at certain very fit points of my life, I have always barely been able to swim a length without passing out. My technique isn't even that bad.

Don't think it's a phobia, and I can join up my lines nicely. I just dread drawing/writing it. If I can't find a way of getting out of it, I've known myself to make excuses to go make a coffee to give myself a breather and prepare mentally for it (that's if I'm already having a bad day, not all the time)

By the way, this thread came to me because whatsispus said he had a mean back hand at sqaush. That upset me. It's one thing in squash where I lack in skill. No matter how much I practice. it pisses me off greatly.

I can't stand polystyrene. The sound, the feeling, its unnatural lightness.

I had a recurring nightmare as a child of the world constantly expanding, or rather, everything in the world expanding. Filling all the gaps and slowly, inexorably crushing all light and life itself. And the world is made of polystyrene. Every time I touch or hear polystyrene it brings it all back. It's terrifying.

I think the polystyrene is a metaphor for mortality. Or something.

...

And mice. I fucking hate mice.

Crosswords.

Opening thick plastic casings, like the ones that memory sticks come in.

Swimming,I can't swim it's purely a mental thing for me I was learning to swim and was doing widths well but when I was 7 I went on holiday to visit my aunt.

During the vacation we went to a swimming place that had flumes and a wave machine I stupidly went swimming where the wave machine was and I ended up getting tossed on my back by the waves generated by the wave machine I was frozen stiff by fear and couldn't get up my aunt (who was a nurse) noticed and pulled us out of the pool and saved us.

Ever since then i've never been able to leave the edge of the pool. Was a bit of a pain in high school as no matter how cool and tough I tried to look I always became a wierdo when it came to the compulsary p.e swimming lessons.

I can't perform to a large audience without shiting it and stressing like a nervous wreck from the day before. Thats including performing with bands, playing competetive football or things uni forces upon you such as presentations, where I forget how to talk.

Sounds like OCD. I'd see a therapist.
