Hopefully there can be some cheer for the Scotland between the two first team games. 2-1 down from the first leg against (who I believe are) the favourites. 2-1 down is not a bad result to bring back to Easter road for the 2nd leg tomorrow night and am sure it'll be an interesting game to watch. Going by the final game of the qualifying league (an injury time goal to go from 3rd to top of the league) they wont be giving up until the fat referee whistles.

Am sure we can do with this bit of cheer to give us something to be happy about before the Spain game.

We should be able to win, a few good players at that level, but anything could happen.

Hopefully get a decent crowd.

Iceland are believed to have something of a golden generation at this level (don't know where I read it, but I did somewhere...). I don't think we'll win I'm afraid.

Just noticed this game is on Sky tv tonight so I shall be watching it.

Iceland are taking it very seriously and moved 7 players who qualify for the u-21's but normally play for the senior team back to the u-21 squad for these games at the expense of there euro 2012 qualifying bid.

Oh well unless Goodroy and griffiths can grab 3 goals in the last 5 minutes it's all over.

Still McGuires goal straight from the kick off made it all worth watching, wonder if we can try that against Spain tomorrow.

I only knew Scotland had scored because I checked the radio, to see if the game was anything to do with the roar I had just heard from outside.
Must have been some crowd as I live in Stockbridge.
I kid you not.

edit - Ah... now I see why. Wow-wee indeed.

Some great goals anyway, but they did seem to end up with more all round unfortunatley.

Still think it's a good set of players though, better than at that level 2-3 years ago anyway.

Kickoff - one tap to him, one touch, then lofted over the keeper from the halfway line. Great play.

Jeez. Goal of the season.

Although this used to happen regularly in our school team. On the restart, we'd roll the ball back gently to big Colin, who was thundering into the centre circle. He would then blooter it goalwards. Tiny primary school goalies and full sized goals helped this strategy. Sometimes it bounced over one or both of them.

A very enjoyable game (except the result obviously). But at least it's how a loss should be. Some great play all round really, very very impressed. All six goals in the tie were belters. Says something that it takes quite a few of the top players to pip the young lads to the post. Heads held high I am sure and hopefully something Levein seen and admired.
