Levein says he's going tonattack anyway. Maybe trying to keep people onside. Sure we will still be too defensive for some people though .

Well, attacking them is one way to roll the dice on Levein's future. Come out of it with a respectable score, and he regains a bit of respect. Come out of it getting repeatedly punished on the counter and he could be out.

If he has a go and gets slaughtered I think he'll be OK. It's not good, but nobody is expecting much.

If he goes out ultra defensive and loses 0-3, he's in trouble.

I doubt we're gonna get murdered either way - once Spain go 2 or 3 up, they'll ease off, playing possession football while trying to avoid the increasingly desperate lunges our boys are launching in their direction. They're not especially high scorers anyway, are they? I must admit I'm basing this on the World Cup, where they were playing teams of a calibre sufficient to qualify for the thing, so maybe this doesn't apply.

Anyway.

I'd hope that Levein goes with the formation and strategy which he feels is most likely to achieve a good result. Otherwise, if we're not going to trust him to manage properly, we'd be better off appointing Chic Young.

We'll still get bummed though.

There'll be little threat from Scotland, and almost certainly we'll lose, but all this talk of 4s or 5s is silly. You'd think Spain win all the games they play against teams at Scotland's level by that score. Even with the first 1- all fit they often struggle against massed defences.
