Well, that other thread was getting a little derailed with this issue, and since there is no thread about politics at all on here, I thought we should have one...

So, where were we?

Child Benefit changes:

PRO: Cob, Whatsthatonyourback, Setenza

Aren't you the funny one.

Eggman's political philosophy summed up perfectly - "Tory Cunts".

ETA: Swear filter maybe needs a little refining...

So, where were we?

Child Benefit changes:

It doesn't go far enough. It should be rigorously means-tested. How someone on £40k a year gets the same amount as someone on £15k a year isn't right.*

*Maybe it isn't. I don't have kids and don't know how what the actual rules are.

I wouldn't say the funny one. I don't want to big up myself that much.

You can take me out of the Con group for Child Benefit changes: I'm against these changes. By all means change Child Benefit, just do it better.

For what it's worth, I'd get rid of Winter Fuel Payments as well. Pensioners are already living a relative life of f*cking riley on the back of my hard work. Scrounging f*ckers.

So you're still in the Con group for this change. You're hanging out for the perfect solution and would rather this cheap and easy 90% solution wasn't implemented in the meantime. Got that.

Rather than the child benefit, the other change that seems to upset people more is the capping of benefits at £26k. A few people might lose a lot more from that I think.

Again, I'm happy with the change though.

On the contrary, this looks to me like more of a classic Daily Mail inspired bash-a-scrounger policy and should go down well with the voters.

There are some awful people out there who will never contribute anything worthwhile to society. Whether this will deal with them is another question entirely.

Maybe, but it was the idea of making people move out of 'nice' areas that a few people objected to.

Again, I suspect that will be viewed quite positively by most people.

Probably, but while a lot of labour/snp/whoever supports might support stopping paying relatively high earners , the whole breaking up community thing is always an argument.

Not that I'm bothered, or as you say a lot of people are, but I expected more opposition, even if there's a good chunk of support for it.

Apparently your country needs you. I've never gone for that, so I won't bother.

Talk of marriage tax credits also, to reduce impact of the child benefit stuff.
