I don't have ADHD, OCD, RSI, dyslexia, asthma, alcohol or substance dependency, a criminal record or come from a broken home. ![]() I do have bad knees, webbed feet, a terrible temper, a chronic ear infection and a intermitently itchy arsehole. Today has been a good day

This topic is making me feel excluded through my lack of comprehension of it. Will that do? |

I don't have John Hughes' unique use of the English language, that makes me feel pressure (just don't have a go at my players though). |

I don't have an impetigo-free face. Despite a course of antibiotics and some topical antibiotic cream. f*cking boooo! (Actually, 'f*cking kids!', as I'm fairly sure it was the son-and-heir that gave it to me.) (Although, to be fair, I did give it to him first.) (FFS! BOOOOOOO!) |

Don't be too hard on yourself. I've seen clear evidence of apoplexia whenever United or The (New) Labour Party are criticised. Where is calico/Finn, incidentally? |

You reckon Calico was Finn? Or was it that Finn was Calico? Surely not! Anyway, speaking of politics what does anyone make of the new Tory plan to scrap child benefit for the middle classes? I'm shocked personally: last thing I expected. I know that they threw in an attack on 'scroungers' to even it out a bit, but I didn't expect them to hit their own...maybe those bloody liberals are doing some good after all...gotta be good for something after all. |

hard to disagree with the principle (not that the policy is driven by principle of course) but it is flawed in its application i.e. governed by individual parent tax rate and not combined household income so two parents both earning just below higher rate levels still get it but single parent earning a ound above the threshold loses it. Big worry of course is that this may be the thin end of the wedge when it comes to the erosion of universal access to benefits and services, higher rate tax payers maybe paying for health care, schooling etc? Anyway, I think this will turn out to be a serious tactical error by the ConDems, despite its curates egg like credentials. |

Unspeakable monsters though they may be, we're probably a distance away from asking parents to pay for state schools.# On the Child Benefit issue, it's an awful decision clearly thought up after one too many G&Ts. While no one would seriously argue that there are those claiming Child Benefit who could do without it, if you are going to cut it you need to do it fairly. Here we have a scenario where a two parent family with combined earnings of £85,000 will be able to claim it but the same family where only one works and has a combined income of £45,000 cannot. That's just not fair and the people who will suffer are likely to be articulate, confident, middle-class professionals. Just the sort of people who shape public opinion (for better or for worse). I can see this changing substantially or being dropped altogether. |
