So, by my reckoning, we've two lads out on loan at the moment. And they both go by the name 'McCord'.

Ryan, on loan at Airdrie United, had a grand weekend, playing the full 90 minutes and converting a Phillip Johnson cross to equalise in a 2-1 win against Forfar at Station Park. This counter took his season's tally to two.

Not to be outdone, wee brother Ross bagged a double as Montrose routed Clyde 8(eight)-1. This added to his, apparently, sublime lob from the edge of the box in the 3-2 defeat at Elgin last weekend.

Plus, Dale Hilson scored for the Scotland U-19's, who thrashed Liechtenstein 7-0.
Also in the squad were Marc McCallum, Stuart Armstrong and Ross Smith.

Hurrah for da yout'!

Ah good, I missed the old Loan Watch thread.

I have a feeling in my marrow that the McCords could score every week on loan and still never get a game at Tannadice.

A welcome return, thanks Reekie!

Hilson currently seems to be the most likely to 'make it' out of that mob, though I'd like to see more of Hill and McCallum who, like most defenders, probably have a long trek to solid-defenderville. Frighteningly, the McCords seem to be going the way of the Camerons. Take note, Pongo and Pingu!

At least Cameron got a chance.

With a severe lack of midfield creativity, this is the time we should be trying them out. But we don't, so I can't see them every getting anyplace.

Still at least they can prove they can play well enough at lower levels, unlike Cameron apparently....

Makes good tyres though.

Another goal for Ryan McCord at Airdrie it seems, up to 4 this year from midfield. Not bad.

It was indeed a fourth of the season for Ryan, who played the full match. His low drive, from inside the box, opened the scoring for Airdrie in a 3-1 win at Boghead.
Ross had a quieter game after last week's goal-fest but also managed 90 minutes for Montrose as they beat Stranraer 2-1 away.
Oh, and Dale Hilson scored again for the Scotland U-19's, who beat Estonia 2-1 in Tallinn.
Oh! And I just noticed my cousin's son's in the squad too. Cool.

No game for Ryan McCord this week, which gave Ross the chance to narrow the goals gap.
And take the chance he did, scoring a 25-yarder to make it 3-2, as Montrose fought back from 3-0 down to draw with Stranraer at Links Park.
According to the match report he could even have snatched a winner.
Nice one, Ross.

While it's hard to say for sure without seeing the matches the McCords are playing in, it's hard to say what more they need to do for a chance back at Tannadice. Maybe come the transfer window the choice will be made for Houston if we lose a midfielder or two.

Scott Allan just scored for Forfar. Like the look of this kid. Very direct and tricky customer.

Very highly rated apparently. Were you at the game, Yaz? What sort of player is he?

No I wasn't there Ivan. I saw him in the Oban tournament this summer and he was one of the stars of the show. He reinded me so much of Andy McLaren. He plays with a real joie de vivre, uninhibited and energetic. He can bring width but is also direct when he spies a channel into the box to hit. The sort of layer that gets defenders back peddling and falling on their arses. I just hope he fulfils his potential and does not have a dark side that can sometimes blight this sort of player. McLaren, Ralphie and I suppose Goodie too to a degree.

Sounds like exactly what the team is missing right now without Conway and Swanson.

With Ryan not even benched for Airdrie (loan spell over?), Ross continued the excellent form of the McCord brothers by bagging the second of Montrose's goals in their 3-2 cup-win over Arbroath (the only black mark against his name - I'm a Lichtie by birth).
I'm ashamed to say I was oblivious to Scott Allan's loan.
Well spotted Yaz.

According to housty, Allan is a very exciting player with loads of potential, but who is "nowhere near old enough for the SPL"...
