Players never break down in matches, do they? Injured, sure, but never a break-down.

I imagine when they say a player broke down in training, that he was sobbing and wailing and probably even rolling around the ground shouting its not fair with all his team mates looking at him slightly uncomfortably whispering to each other "should we say something to him?".

That's my first thought too whenever I see the phrase. Violent sobbing. Snot. The physio giving a tentative hug, getting his hair out his eyes and using a tissue on his face.

Man, I wish that happened more often during matches.

I bet one year ago very few of us would know how important Conway would become to us. It's amazing what one cup final performance can do.

Meh, he got a lot of unmerited crap from too many United supporters, he's been an asset for a long while now.

He was pish for a good long while though

Fair enough considering he was 21 and spent half of his playing time getting pelters from many 'supporters'.

He wasn't pish when he was getting all the abuse either. Some people are just arseholes and can't tell a good player until he rams it down their throats, which Conway now has.

He was somewhere in between I think. Not that I game him any abuse, but for a good few months he wasn't half the player he's been lately in terms of effectiveness for us.

Will be good to get him back though, hopefully he'll be back after the international break.

Its the lot of a winger isn't it? I remember Eammon Bannon getting fearful stick is he couldn't put the ball straight onto Dodds's napper, Andy McLAren used to get an absolute tonne of stick. And the second game for Houston v Aberdeen, Conway got some of the most unmerited abuse I've heard for a while.

I guess fans place so much store on the winger being able to set up the chances, if they are having a stinker they will get much more abuse than say a carthose in the middle of the park "putting 100% in" even though he's playing complete pish!

Don't get me wrong, Setenza, I admire diplomacy almost as much as the next man, but I'm not convinced that there's a continuum which runs from "he was pish for a good long while" to "some people are just arseholes".

Was he pish for a good long while? Yes/No

Are some people just arseholes? Yes/No

Nail your colours to the mast, sir.

There's a continum between good and pish though. Good players, which he is, don't always play well though. Doesn't mean they deserve abuse, but they're clearly not playing well.

But Yes and Yes anyway...

Conway has been through long spells of being terrible. The first half of last season being one such spell. However, he does also have long spells of being our most important player - the second half of last season being such a spell.

The abuse he gets when he is pish is ridiculous however. Even when he couldn't do a thing right, he was always available as an out for his teammates and helped the team keep its shape when he could have gone a-wandering to hide.

In fact, even when he's good he gets abuse. But, he does play his games in front of a lot of Dundonians, so sadly it's going to happen.
