Well, let's try this.

To make it sufferable for others - make it 1 hour long. A general theme or explanation for choices is useful. And, a couple of recommendations to start people off with.

My theme is just a bunch of American-ish music that I have listened to recently.

The track I really love but expect everyone to hate is the 12 hellish minutes of nervous-breakdown disco stylings that is The Past Is A Grotesque Animal by Of Montreal.

Everyone will like Challengers by New Pornographers (warning: may not contain pornography).

Hey, that was a pretty cool playlist. I'd heard both Neko Case and Shakin Stevens before and not really been grabbed by them, but both those songs are great so I'm off to check out more.

I'm working on my own list. Bet you can't wait, the lot of you.

Most of those aren't available. Something to do with the US, or maybe they're stored on your computer?

:( and I don't know how Spotify works....

Do I have to look for tracks on it and compile a playlist that way?

That's what I did anyway.

This is my effort. No particular theme, as I couldn't think of anything coherent. Just the usual combination of pretentious nonsense and mindless doof.

Good places to start are No Danger by The Delgados or All My Friends by LCD Soundsystem, beacuse they're brilliant. I also included Disney's Dream Debased by The Fall, to prove that they weren't always about angry bluster and bombast.

Thanks - that played away quite nicely as I stared at a spreadsheet. And when it finished, I knew how long I'd been staring at the spreadsheet for.

I particularly liked There's A Ghost In My House - I'd not heard that version before.

The Delgados song brought back memories of moving into a flat that I had no furniture for and had to sleep on a futon in a room with no curtains and smelled of paint. Thanks for that.

Finally, just before it entirely slipped my mind, a playlist. It's a mix of stuff by famous and some unknown acts thrown in, but hopefully someone will find something on it they like.

I've also done a themed one, based on music from that much maligned decade the 80s. Listen at your peril. Only one band features on both, and regular listeners could probably guess who...

Anyway, doesn't famed-Arab George Lamb sound like the old children's tv alien Gilbert?
