It's being reported that the former director has passed away. Sad news indeed. He was a man who was very clearly committed to the club over many years.

I met him a few times and always seemed very professional. Too young to go, so condolences to his family.

He seemed to have been well liked across Planet Fitba based on the supportive messages and news releases from the likes of ?Dee's, Sheep, Jambos, Bairns etc

That's terrible. Lovely man, very smart. Really helped the club.

Anything from Rangers?

He always seemed a decent and reasonable chap, in spite of the absolute Trevi Fountain of bullshit he had to deal with each day. Thought the tribute from Ian Roache at the Courier came across as warm, heartfelt and honest, in a way that tributes to football people usually don't.

Was that the thing they would email out, where Derek answered the stupidest (but representative) questions the fans could drag out of their minds? That was excellent.

I'm sure there were sensible questions, but the memory of stoopidity is the one that stuck.

I got to know Derek personally a couple of year back, when he was doing a project about Pat Relly, whose father was a workmate of my great-grandfather. Top guy. One of the nicest blokes I've ever known.
