Presume it'll be harder this time around.

Still, a game with no pressure, hopefully a confidence builder.

A good game to give Anier a run, and perhaps to give Kawashima a break. No big whoop if we lose; the real battles are still to come.

Zwick
Donaldson Gunning Durnan
Spittal Demel Paton Rankin
Dow Fraser
Anier

It sounds like Anier played well last night, and given FSP can't run for more than 30 mins without hamstring twang, I'd start him, but stick with the rest - I think continuity is important for the battles ahead.

I wasn't there last night, but by the sounds of it, we played a lot of direct football. Given that, would playing Ofere not be a good choice, as he has a chance of winning the ball or causing chaos.

What's up with our Japanese custodian? Various mentions of him being half-fit. Has he tweaked something?

I know we went to the cup final in 2005 at the same time as a relegation battle (somewhat more tepid than this one), but I'm struggling to care less about staying in the tournament, save for not getting any injuries and not denting the current re-emergence of some confidence.

The confidence factor remains important. A semi final to look forward to and maintain competition for places would be good. The cup run in 2005 gave the team the spirit to overturn a 9 point gap v the Dees.

I'd want Ofere to be in the start line up, not Anier. They clearly struggled with our height at set pieces in the last game. Don't see them doing significantly better.

We seem to have found more of a vein of attacking form recently, so I'm mot too worried on that front.
The big problem is, once again, in the goalkeeping position.
If Eiji is struggling or, even worse, out then TossCo will bombard us with high balls into the box. Our defenders will have to play to their maximum.
Will be a lot closer than last Saturday, that's for sure.

Eiji
Donaldson Gunning Durnan
Spittall Paton Demel Rankin
Fraser
Murray Ofere

3-3.

Zwick in goal tomorrow. Teenage goalie on the bench.

The good news is that Gunning is doubtful.

According to the Tele.

Even if Zwick is exceptional, I think Kawashima will and should come back in when fit.

We need some stability there, and hopefully in Zwick a prospect for next season.

A totally unwelcome distraction from our plunge into the championship.

I might attend.

Is Demel fit?

He clearly wasn't right against Aberdeen, he didn't/couldn't kick the ball. Had the goal kicks taken for him and when he had the ball in his hands he threw it out. Like a short punt out wide, every time. Gave Aberdeen the chance to put us under pressure. So yeah, bring Zwick in, hopefully let his thing recover and bring him back for next Friday.

Seems a bit strange having a Scottish cup quarter final with no one really in the slightest bit bothered about it (that's the feeling I get). That's understandable enough though. What I would say though is that we've managed to pull together and create some spirit and momentum, you want to see that continue. So while no one loses any sleep if we go out, staying in and going through means another lift, another bit of confidence and belief that we can take into the rest of our matches.

With that in mind, if anyone has injury problems then I'd probably rest em, otherwise I'd keep the team largely the same. I'd pick Ofere up top, but it may be a decent time to give Anier a start too. (I was maybe a little harsh on him after the Hearts match)

Mixu has said he expects a very, very tough match. I'm inclined to agree, they'll be right up for this one. A test to see if we can match them.

Looks like we're trying a new 4-4-3 formation.

So much for preferences- all hail the Hoover! Now a stick on re- match v Sevco now that the Dees have bottled it once again. And with 10 men too- Mixu will be a happy chappie with Accies losing too
