This was a free hit tonight. Not winning doesn't really matter in the scheme of things. We weren't horses by the second best team in the league. Mind, we're bottom for a reason. Staying up won't depend on today. |

Huge opportunity to close the gap missed, especially with Aberdeen missing Hayes & Rooney. Can't help feeling that result will be one we regret at the end of the season. |

Nah. Even with that pair out, they still have a superior squad to us. It was, as Barca said, effectively a free hit. We've maintained the gap and didn't get tanked. Onwards! |

We could conceivably get 15/15 from our next five and Killie could conceivably get 0/12 from their next four. |

I think we'll regret December where we should've won five games but won none. |

Och, ye ken what I mean. Maybe it's November. Or the whole of Nov/Dec really. Stunk the place right out. |

Pish the lot of you. A bit of momentum, having won two in a row, and against our main local rivals when they have their two best players missing, and with Killie already having lost, we get overrun in the first half and can't claw anything back in the second? Pish. We're going down. And all because of this result. Well done Aberdeen. You relegated us. |

A win would have been absolutely massive. While Aberdeen were missing their two top performers they still have a team better than any of the "rest" in the league. It's a game we might have taken something from though, especially with Donaldson's chance. Roll it into the corner of the net. Could barely have been simpler. Again the defence was mostly solid enough and played well, with the usual couple of mistakes thrown in. For as much as everyone doesn't like Gunning, he was possibly our top player on the night. Won all his headers, marshalled our defence, solid. There weren't a lot of very good performances though, Paton being my other top pick doing the defensive midfield stuff. Felt a bit sorry for the strikers who were absolutely starved of any kind of service whatsoever. That said Pongolles only real moments of impact in the first half were him falling on his arse trying to control a high ball and putting the ball out of the stadium with his only shot of the game. Anier made himself more of a nuisance than the other two and generally retained possession when he got it, though it mainly consisted of coming back the way rather than anything incisive. Think we waited too long to bring on Ofere for McKay, who made no impact (though I got pissed off at folk moaning at him, he was given nothing to go off.) With the game going the way it was though, a physical presence looked our best chance of getting an opening (which Anier did for Donaldson's chance). Dixon is putting in the effort, but he looks like he's lost all confidence. Few times in the second half he got on the ball with attacking options and it usually played out the same way- him trying a tough ball in from midway in their half and us not having the ball any more. We again looked a lot better when he went off and we had Rankin and/or Erskine out in that position. Fraser produced our only real (few) moments of creativity, but it wasn't a good night for him, got dispossessed a number of times. Credit to Aberdeen for being a tough team to play against though, they were quick and aggressive and made life difficult for us. We're a much more solid team these days, but there's not much creativity there, so Fraser is needed to give us that. Anyway we've just played 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the league and taken 6 points. That's a good return. Credit to the team for that, everyone (me included) was ready to write us off after Motherwell. From here til the end of the season the highest team we'll play is 5th. Every game left is one we can go in to with a decent chance of winning. Killie's next two games are against Aberdeen and Celtic. We have Motherwell and Dundee. Tremendous opportunity to really close the gap on them and be breathing down their necks with plenty of matches left! |
