If we can beat Hearts, we can beat Ross County.

And hopefully Hearts beat Killie.

And Celtic put another 8 past Hamilton.

Right now I don't care if we win every game and go down at least we would show that we are capable

Could be a big weekend right enough. If things go our way (obviously a big 'if') we could still have a realistic chance of avoiding coming last.

But as Zico has alluded to the only chance United have is to keep showing fighting spirit...a few more of the limp displays they put in v Well last week will see it fizzle out pathetically. I also think Mixu needs to be more attack minded...I'm not so sure he will be though. We were very lucky to scrape through at the weekend as we surrendered possession to the 10 men opposition again, as we have done several times this season, and ended up with no strikers on the park by the end. That should never be allowed to happen. Every game it does, we've less chance of making this work.

I think the one thing that could help us would be if we could string some results together the sides above us would start to cack themselves. I really do think if we got to the split 5 points adrift, then it is game on.

Of course we haven't been able to do that for 12 months, so there is more reason to think it won't happen than will.

But if it did...

Last five games v prem opposition : W3 D1 L1. We need to continue that form over the next 12 games which would see us come home with a record of W7.2 D2.4 L2.4 giving a yield of 24 points. That would give us 41 points altogether, two more than I calculated second bottom would potentially get at their current rate of accumulation.

It is, as a football pundit might say, "a big ask".

And then there were four... (assuming we can discount Partick after last night's result)

I think to succeed against RossCo we'll need to impose ourselves on the game. If we try to contain them, they'll simply play around us.

There's a fair chance Thistle will push Dundee into the bottom six, right? That'd be good. I like derbies.

Not sure, tbh.
Dundee have enough inconsistency (if you know what I mean?) to sneak into the top six.
Certainly, they have a goalscorer in Hemmings.
It would be nice though.
More likely to end up with the Johnnies.

Why is this topic so far down? Thoughts on the line up? Demel is missing so that opens up Rankin returning to the middle with Dixon out with. Personally I hope we don't do this, I'd prefer to see Dow come in, with Rankin staying on the left. Other than that I'd imagine it will be pretty much the same team, which I'm not unhappy with, though I'd still prefer Dillon to Duran Duran.

I think you mean you'd prefer Dylan to Duran Duran. Well, so would I, but what has that got to do with the game?

Anyway, a win would be ideal but I don't think a point would be a terrible result. As long as we don't lose, the momentum won't be gone ahead of the return of those sheepies this week. We're due a league win over them again, I think. Been a while, and they seem very up and down at the moment as well. I'll take 4 points from the next two games anyway, at any rate.

It's a shame Rankin will likely have to move infield, as I think he and Spittall would have had a successful day against County's two, back-up full-backs.
Still, a chance for Dixon to show he's not completely finished...
Definitely Ofere up front to sling balls in to, along with Murray, who'll hopefully be champing at the bit after his rest last week.
Oh, and I'd prefer both Dillon and Dylan to Durnan and Duran Duran too.

Donaldson Gunning Dillon
Spittall Paton Rankin Dixon

Murray Ofere

We could always play Dixon in the middle and Rankin out wide. Dixon is quite good at running around and tackling.

You know, that's not a bad idea actually, Set.
No way it'll happen but I'd definitely try it.
