In the game last night, there was a moment when Riski got the ball on the side of the pitch, ran past a motherwell player and crossed.

It was strange seeing that.

Is that what we'll need to get out of the championship, like in 95/96?

I wonder if, at the end of the 75/76 season, anyone was asking for McLean's head or wanting rid of Hegarty or Narey. Not helpful, I know, just wondering.

I think there was significant unrest, also a section of the support were unhappy that Andy gray was sold.

Interesting. I see we spent a lot of time then in ninth place.

IT was a Young side and a young league, but there was promise.

And perhaps even more interestingly we looked sunk after a remarkably poor 13 game non-winning streak then won 8 of the last 14 to stay up.

Now, I'm fairly certain even 8 wins from our last 13 wouldn't be enough.

Also, while it's true to say that Hegarty and Narey were in that side, Hegarty was a striker and Narey played attacking midfield.

I'm sure he'll be joining Ched Evans in being rumoured to be signing for every club in every transfer window.

From the courier

It is understood that some players’ contracts do not have relegation clauses in them, meaning they would retain their salary level despite dropping down a division.

Who in their right mind would offer contracts with no clause in them?? Surely such a thing should have been included as a safety net even if the likely hood is not? Do ST and Southern actually know how to draw up a contract?

Somebody trying to attract players to a club that had finished in the top six for eight consecutive seasons? Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Seriously, how many guys are going to be adversely affected by this? Paton and Dillon. Any others going to be earning top drawer wages and still be around next year? If Rankin wants to stay he'll have to sign a new contract. Likewise Dow.

And so they damn well should. Who signs a contract that allows their employer to cut your pay based on something that's nearly entirely outside your control? Imagine explaining that to a mortgage advisor.

Dixon, Paton, Dillon, Bodul, Anier, Szromnik, Murray, Spittal, Zwick, Durnan, Fraser, Muirhead and Donaldson are contracted beyond the end of this season. Of those, I've no grumbles about retaining Paton, Dillon, Murray, Fraser, Muirhead and Donaldson on the same money. They can get a game in the Championship, even if it's costing us a few hundred quid more than their theoretical value at a Championship level.

Szromnik and Zwick are at an age one would hope would encourage them to revive their careers somewhere else but if they'd rather hang on for the money, that shouldn't push us into bankruptcy. With regards Spittal, we should be offering him more cash not threatening him with less.

So, we're basically talking about Bodul and Anier. Both have already refused to f*ck off, despite being asked politely, so I'd expect that to continue until they're paid off. Oh well. Never mind. That's a few hundred £ down the pisser, but let's not lose sleep over it.

Nobody's professional reputation would withstand bring outed as so lacking in confidence in their ability they'd insist on enforcing a relegation protection clause.
