Accies away next. We must still be smarting from losing to them last time, especially when their winner was scored by someone called Ziggy. Fail to win this and I believe we're doomed. |

I agree, VVassa, that, despite it being an away match, we really do need to win, as our upcoming fixtures are not all that kind. Hamilton seem to vacillate between stuffy, uninspiring draw-merchants and goal-fest specialists. I guess we'll have to hope we meet the latter and have enough guile to prevail. |

With someone of the pace of Murray against that central defence thus should be a comfortable win- but it won't be. Our defence and midfield let the ball bounce in dangerous areas. So 3-1 Accies |

So, any ideas of the formation and personnel for Saturday? Anyone think Ofere will start? Could a front 3 of Murray - Ofere - McKay work in a 3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2 formation?? Murray's been getting plenty of plaudits for his Vardy-esque work up front. The Tully writers have their say here. Though I'm not buying Liam Kennedy's suggestion of recalling Zwick though

You wonder how much those guys know about football sometimes. Celtic game aside the defence has looked a lot more organised since Eiji came in - he hasn't always dealt with crosses very well, granted, but he clearly knows how to get the guys in front of him working better than either of the other two keepers. Unless he gets injured or suspended, he's there til the end of the season. I'd question Ofere's fitness too - haven't we had enough clearly unfit débutantes of late without throwing another off the pace/hamstrings apopping bloke into the mix? Keep him on the bench and put him on if we need him. |

![]() I'd agree on this, mostly because I don't like McKay. Seen nothing of this new lad beyond Youtube highlight reels, which make him look about as subtle as an Andrew Dice Clay punchline. In our current predicament, that might be enough. There's potential for a double act where Murray tires them out and Ofere batters them. Certainly worth a go. Dow or Fraser behind the two. Not hugely fussed which. While Kawashima had an awful couple of flogs last week, he stands in the right place. It's impossible to underestimate how much a defence benefits from having a keeper who's standing in the right place. So, he stays. All in all, I'm expecting an ugly 0-1. |

I seem to remember we played in this formation (or a lopsided version of it) when the like of Mark Wilson, JP, Jim McIntyre etc. were in the team, and we were shite but played decent football. |

Ooh, bad memories. That lopsided formation with Wilson being asked to perform one and a half positions up the right. It was horrible. Think it was a 4-4-2 though, with Kerr (Brrr) on the right of midfield hampering Wilson's efforts. |

I wasn't really arguing in favour of a formation change. Our current 3-4-whatever seems to be working better than any we've tried over the past 12 months. The only change, really, is a straight swap up front: McKay out, big bruiser fella in. My impression is that they're both goal-hanging target men, but one's bigger than the other. It's a bit like a power-up in a video game. |

I'd keep Murray and McKay together for the first hour and then sub Ofere or Pongole for one of them depending on fitness/injury/form I'd hope Demel plays ahead of Paton slightly so he doesn't have to knacker himself tracking back so much. The strategy of shifting Rankin into his position when he eventually blows out and bringing on Dixon seemed a good idea. I'd hope that we wouldn't persevere with Dow for too long if he clearly can't get into the game and get ahead of the front two - so Fraser may appear earlier. still worry about the defence- didn't Donaldson play in the 4-0 defeat and have a 'mare? If Zwick came on I wouldn't worry that much- I don't think he played that badly but was poorly protected and Kawashima is very uncertain on crosses no matter what height they come in at. |

Assuming we keep the same long ball tactics, I can see Ofere and Murray working, even if it's not pretty. Bring on Mckay when someone gets tired. |

No idea what the score might be, but coukdns care less as long as we get at least 1 goal more than Accies and get the 3 points. Anything other than a win and we're up sh1t creek. |

I'm hoping (probably against hope) that it will be a relatively mild, dry day, with an away support full of boisterous yet positive joie de vivre. Preferably to witness a performance and result that will have attendees purring for weeks, nay months, about the quality of the fayre on offer. Chiefly because it's my second son's first match and I dont want him put off for life. Failing all that, I'm in Tom's camp - one-more-goal-than-them win, please. Same team but, and I'm with Naebody here, with Ofere in for McKay. Because I think he's a bit shit, actually. |
