We've no wingers (well connolly seems to have dissappeared) and need width though, so I don't mind the system that pushes Dixon forward more. A lot of good things seems to come from that side.
That's true, though I question whether crosses into the box for a lone striker that likes running on to through balls is that useful.
I hesitate to say it but I wonder if Jackie's system might be better suited to us at the moment.
Opposing teams know that there are gaping holes in our full-back areas and hit crosses from there to the far post where there's acres of space.
A back four might improve that and let a front four play through teams a bit more. We seem to want to do that mostly anyway.

Ach, I don't know. The three-at-the-back does seem to give us a central solidity (to an extent...), as well as attacking width of sorts, but it leaves us very vulnerable down the flanks.

He's from Giffnock I believe. Maybe he had a day off?

Ah, the fate of the modern footballer, to get berated for being in the gym. :ermm:

We have a slightly better defensive record under Mixu (think 1.7 goals a game, rather than 1.9). But more importantly, it seems like we were limiting opposition chances more. Of course as you say teams will have picked up on our new formation and try to exploit, so whatever we do, we'll need to work on the basics, which still seem to be missing at times.

I've no problem with three at the back. It benefits Spittal (who's looking the part in what always seemed his natural position) and Dixon (who's better going forward than going back and, judging by the Arabzone highlights, had his best game in some time at Airdrie).

Our centre backs are shite. That's going to be true no matter how many of them there are. Going to four at the back would give us two shite centre-backs and two attacking full backs having to play defensively, which is not a net benefit.

At the moment it looks like we've got players scattered over the whole country who then pile into various jalopies to trail up to St. Andrews for training.

Not convinced that's a great use of time. Its time we set a proper residence limit around the training ground(s)- maybe centred around Newport on Tay. Commutes from Glasgow..... :hit:

I thought EK meant East Kirkton, not that far away from Tannadice.

Many footballers benefit from a lengthy daily car journey if it keeps them from having to work out how to spend all that spare time they have.

He doesn't commute from Glasgow, he has digs in Dundee. He is allowed to come to Glasgow to visit relatives and friends I assume, and if he uses the local gym when he's here, so much the better.

But if Connolly did commute from Glasgow, would he be a better player or a worse one?

Meanwhile ...

The Scottish FA’s compliance officer is to investigate crowd disruption at the Airdrie v Dundee United Scottish Cup tie. [...]

A spokeswoman for the Scottish FA said: “The compliance officer has been made aware of the crowd issue at the Airdrie v Dundee United match.

“He will now seek to gather evidence. If any rule has been breached both clubs will be contacted.”

Is it Airdrie's fault for failing to adequately control a crowd? Or is it United's fault for attracting wallopers? Or both? Or neither?

Answer C. Neither. It's Castle Huntly's fault for giving prisoners a free pass to go to any game they want. I used to think it was bad when I went to games and saw the guy with the googly eyes and Bovril/mince pie breath eccied out of his f*cking farter, singing. I found that worse than letting flares off. Flares are just for bams living in the past (5th Nov).
