Who's left for this one?
Durnan's out until end of the month, I think, but is that just league duty?
Likewise, Demel could be available but will miss the next league game (or two?).
Any prognosis on Morris yet, other than "ligaments"?

I'd keep the team as unchanged as possible, in the hope that a good win will instil some confidence into our regulars.
Plus, all the alternatives are basically pish.

Can't see us not winning.

Muirhead's back, so hopefully straight in alongside McKay.

I was tempted to say that Durnan being out was tremendous news, then again. Must Donaldson be the worst Centre Back in Scotland no to be able to get a game whilst there are fire alarms going off in our defence on a minute by minute basis?

If we can't win this match then we need to just let the SPFL know that we won't bother fulfilling the remaining fixtures for this season - well I know we have barely done that as it stands...

You'd imagine that Airdrie will go with one up front and pack the midfield, so there's really no need for three centre-backs this time.
If we don't go 4-4-2 and really press them high up the park then I may question Mixu's :-/ methods, despite being generally positive about what he's tried to do so far.

Whatever happened to Ryan Dow and Paul Paton? Are they still alive? And is Pongolle due back soon?

Muirhead has shit for brains and was the width of a Volkswagen Passat when going out on loan, so I'm not expecting too much from his return. Anier might be worth another go though. He looked below pub-league standard first time around but, in a team desperately lacking pace and willing, he could at least offer something different once Erskine has done his 60 minutes.

I'd stick with a back three for continuity purposes but would give serious thought to whether Dixon really needs to play, given we'll hopefully be spending more time going forward than backward. Pending suspensions etc, I'd suggest:

Kawashima
McGowan Demel Donaldson
Spittal Rankin Souttar Robson
Erskine McKay Connolly

Zwick, Souttar (H), JJ, Anier and Sukar on the bench.

I'd hope Donaldson tries to grab a chance if he gets one. I liked him when he played previously, didn't see a huge amount wrong.

At least if Anier and Muirhead are back, we've options up front again.

Both seem have have vague problems with knees or groins that need operations or recovery, but no timescale for return so far as I know.

Which is a shame, as limited as both are, they both can be effective players, which we really need right now. Return would really be like 2 new signings.

I have extremely low hopes that Donaldson might be the solution at CB. From what I've seen of him, and from what I've heard from those whose United opinions I respect, he's dire.

Dow would give us a much needed boost.

If we're hoping Anier & Muirhead's returns will help us we're in serious trouble. Muirhead has talent, but his brain. Oh, his brain.

Aye, I know. But Hibs fans seem reasonably positive about him. "Pace" and "zip" mentioned. Given this is the same Hibs that tore us a new craphole a month or so ago, I'm prepared to hope.

What are the issues with him?

I thought he was generally composed, decent at winning the ball and in the right place mostly, if sometimes a bit hesitant. Dire seems harsh.

Donaldson was hesitant and ponderous in possession when he played and I wasn't convinced he had much pace either, which made it surprising that Sackie thought him worth a two year contract.

It would be ideal to try out a back four and ease Paton back. Dow I suspect still has a knackered groin.

Maybe try Robson at LB again. Suspect it will be Dillon and Gunning at CB so who to put on the right?.certainly not Donaldson.

If Paton were to be back, maybe beside Demel ( assuming he can play) we could perhaps toy with a a three behind McKay who would consist of Erskine Muirhead and Spittal.

Anier, if back has to be no more than on the bench

Donaldson is better than Gunning. Gunning is pure pish. And a fanny to boot.
