If we don't win this, we're doomed. And if we don't win it, I'll be saying exactly the same thing for the next game. |

If we do win this, we're still doomed. But a win against Dundee is an end in itself. Kawashima Dillon McGowan Gunning Dixon Erskine Demel Rankin Fraser Pongolle McKay 0-3. Because why not? ETA: Pongolle out, apparently. So: Anier. Yeah. Really. Edited by Naebody, Dec 31 2015, 03:32 PM.

Even Pongolle with a dodgy hamstring would be a better option than that. Murray for me to run about like a demented berserker for 60 mins, then Connolly to tighten their hamstrings on a greasy pitch for the last half hour.

I suspect this is the game that could absolutely finish the season. If the fun give us an absolute doing, who in all honesty is going to go and watch us - even with season tickets? I do suspect that the teams above us will be thinking that we will start winning at some point, so if we managed to put three wins together by the end of of Feb they may start to worry, but there has been nothing since January that has suggested we can do this. 2-0 Dundee. Spirit and hope officially leave the building and Radio Scotland presenters to start clanking out "United fans will have stop dig out the road maps for Alloa now" etc. |

If the Diddleys can't beat us now they never will. 2-1 them and Gunning sent off on a day of ultimate shame for United. |

Since we've both not playing well, probably come down to who can muster the most fight, and I don't think that'll be us. |

I'm not so sure, Set. It's do or die time really. I'd plump for a 4-4-2 also but with Murray on for nuisance value. It's likely to be greasy, so having him harrying defenders trying to chase and/or control a ball is value enough. 2-0 United. Gunning, McKay (pen). Dillon MoM. edit - actually... Spittall for Murray, with Blair out wide right and Fraser off McKay. Sorted. As it were. Edited by reekie, Jan 2 2016, 02:41 AM.

Repeated from the Hearts thread, but I think Spittal might be pretending to be a wingback today. Kawashima Spittal McGowan Dillon Gunning Dixon Erskine Rankin Demel Fraser McKay Which'd be hm. I do think it's his position, but I'd rather he didn't play it next to a centre three that involves two right backs and a nutjob. |

Not too unhappy with first half, even if some predictable events. Good early pressure, some decent moves and good goal. Kawashima I'm sure will need a game or two to adjust to conditions and corners in the UK, hopefully he does. Could have done better for their goal, but otherwise good. First time seen Demel, and like a lot - someone confident enough to hold the ball for a extra few second and move it sensibly makes such a difference to our play. Just need to keep the fight going in the second half. |

Well, then. A decent half, slightly marred by Sky's arsewitted commentary. Someone needs to tell them that not everything is a shocker, a clanger, a gaffe, etc. Kawashima showed that 90% of being a good keeper is knowing where to stand. Irritating about the weak punch that led to their goal, but these things happen. Spittal very good. McGowan, Dixon and Dillon okay. Gunning not. Isn't Gunning on a pay-per-play deal? Because I'm considering matching the wage just to keep him the f*ck away from the first XI. Demel is a proper player. Not quite sure what was going on with the red mist at the end of the half. Someone should've been sent off for the apparent off-the-ball at the death; genuinely not sure which. What Rankin offers in commitment, he lacks in basically everything else. McKay seems to get three touches per half, two of which end up in the stand. I understand that he's a target man, but he's one that doesn't seem to hit the target much. Erskine was okay for someone who has tunnel vision. Fraser needs a haircut. Their corner tactic seems to wilfully ignore the rules regarding obstruction, which kinda makes it cheating. |

Fucking hell. This season ... Bodul useless. Murray worse. Demel not deserving of the red for the incident, but it was inevitable over the 90. Rankin criminally wasteful. I could go on, but won't. Hope is now dead, which I guess is a relief of sorts. Let's get a few kids involved the first XI and build for 18 months in the wilderness. |

Oh well. We can't break the cycle. Even if we pick up form, it's getting to the point where we need to go on a long winning run just to catch up, and that's so far away from happening. Hard to know what to do other than just wait for a win and hope it give some confidence. |

That second half was abysmal. We didn't create a single chance after Dundee took the lead. How on earth can that be in a league that is full of defenders who are utter pish, that we could not, even by accident, create a chance for a shot on goal in the box?? Would this team even get out the Championship? |

It's been a issue for a while that Fraser and Erskine (and understandably Demel) can't last 90 mins. We always fade out as the game goes on. And when we have people like Murray and Bodul to come on, it's not going to get any better. |

I'd say the second half deteriorated because Demel and Erskine were knackered, and Spittal was effectively one-on-one marked. Their goal was at exactly the wrong time, which cancelled out the possibilty of a defensive sub. So Bodul had to be brought on to demonstrate once more that "professional footballer" is a breach of trade descriptions. Also, I doubt the autopsy will detect this, but McKay was shite. He'd clearly been told at half time to make himself available in the channels rather than just hanging around in the middle waiting for things to happen. But he seems totally unable to find a pass. It's a perverse thing to say, given he's the only goalscorer in the squad, but I'd not be too upset if McKay is recalled tomorrow. |
