Well, I guess the damage limitation of the second half worked, but no less frustrating for all that.

That miracle is looking less and less likely as the weeks go by.

We can only hope that New Year's day brings some new faces.
And Kawashima.
And that Morris isn't injured. Or Demel. Or McKay.
And that Durnan is...

I think Durnan is due to be out for most of the coming month...he was already due a suspension, so this may mean three or four games out. Perhaps for the best.

So far, not our most successful signing.

Gah.

When the temptation is to laud our avoidance of a thrashing scoreline from Hearts, rather than regret the lack of threat to pinch a point, we seem more and more desperate.

We're looking more and more doomed. Are we doomed? What odds would you give on us not finishing bottom, never mind above the playoff place?

Wasnae at the game last night, simply coz I didnae manage to get a ticket.

2 buddies who were there, both sayed they lay the blame for the 1st 2 goals squarely with the keeper. What a surprise.

Been pretty much up till now in the Corporal Jones camp, but now think I'm leaning toward whatsthat with his Private Frazer philosophy.

Stephen Thompson. You stupid boy.

Highlights now active on BBC - that was never a penalty we got. Total dive by Fraser. Lucky goal by Fraser. Blatant pen & red card.

So, should've been 3-0, going on 6.

United finishing 12th is 1.99 to lay, which is an implied probability of slightly better than 50% that we'll get out of it. But the same market is 1.51 to back, implying a 66.2% probability that we're doomed.

Taking a mid price, the betting markets say we're 58% likely to go straight down and 42% likely to get at least a playoff place.

I don't know about the Fraser penalty...he may have been clipped, but he certainly made the most of a silly lunge. His goal may have been fortunate, but it was a lovely ball in and they always have a chance of doing something like that.

Keeper not at fault for the first, but the second was truly horrible. You'd have been as well with a sandbag in goal there. Possibly better. He seems to have made some good stops otherwise but there's little point when he keeps doing shit like that.

Morris out for a couple of months so we definitely will need a new central defender this month. Unless he actually tries Donaldson there.

I can only imagine McKay wasn't injured but tactically rested in a game we were going to lose anyway. To be fair, Mixu had to shuffle at the back given both central defenders went off at the same time.

Disagree. Defender went to ground way too early, which was idiotic as it basically invited the dive. What kind of player wouldn't welcome the opportunity to fall over him?

Or a really good cross that would've gone in with a touch, but didn't need it. Glass half full.

I expect Mixu's getting a hard time elsewhere for hooking McKay. Personally, I'd say it makes sense to go negative and hope for a fluke goal after losing two central defenders within a minute. Plus, McKay's record from open play is bogging, and you can't expect two penalties per game.

Huh? There needs to be some sort of contact, doesn't there? I can't see any until Fraser is on the way down or already down. Also, Fraser was only able to simulate a foul by moving in a different direction from the ball.

If a defender is lying on the ground having a lovely sleep, is it a penalty if an attacker flicks the ball past him and falls over his prone body? It's not the job of defenders to get out of the way of attackers.

Reductio ad absurdum, bitch.

It looked to me like there was contact, which Fraser engineered once it was clear the defender had committed himself. It's the defender's mistake, which Fraser exploits by ... well .... cheating a bit. It's not simulation, exactly. More opportunism. Corinthian monocles may drop into teacups at the lack of sportsmanship, sure, but I'd have no complaint if it were given the other way.

Sounds like you're agreeing with me whilst trying not to.

The application of the rules on when a penalty is given has indeed been reduced to absurdity.

Now look here, I visit this site for argument not civilised agreement. That's the worst.

Disappointing.
