That's mostly but not exclusively the same team that has got us into this mess.
Yup, the same team as in it's Dundee United. Much as I'd like us to be able to field Barcelona's first XI, there are rules against it.

Are you suggesting we go Full Brewster and bring in the likes of Johnson and Coote? Because I'm not seeing any other options.
Nope, just voicing my frustrations with the present on-going situation. What exactly does Souter bring to the table at the moment?? :hat:

I thought Souttar looked useful against Kilmarnock and Hamilton. Whether or not he had a shit game against Thistle, some of the vitriol he's attracting right now looks unhinged.

I'd totally agree with that. He had a poor game at the weekend, but was certainly one of our better players v Hamilton. Our fans have always loved to blame the younger local lads when things go wrong. Some of vitriol I've seen directed at our young players on other sites is disgraceful. Social media has given people the anonymous right to express any opinion, however lunatic and nasty.

Wasn't it Baldwin who said “Power without responsibility – the prerogative of the harlot throughout the ages.”

Edit: thought if I was quoting I should at least get the right quote.

So, basically, United fans are a bunch of whores.

Whore or not, I think that Souter is a luxury player we can't afford to have in the team at the moment. Doesn't cover enough ground, close down opposition or tackle enough. Perhaps with the right biters and scratchers around him he would be a midfield stand out but unfortunately not in our present midfield that lacks strength where even workman like teams can just outmuscle them.

Time and time again on Saturday the United players were closed down as soon as we had possession. Compare that to Partick who generally had all the time in the world to look up and set up the pass. It isn't the first time this season. In fact it has been the norm.

4-5 strong physical battlers who can hit the ground running in January during the transfer window or we are doomed.

I wasn't referring to anyone criticising United players being to blame, only those calling our own players really personal and vicious names online. Or, in some cases, at the game. There are ways to express your disappointment and wish that someone is dropped. Those are not the ways.

Again, though, I have to disagree about our midfield. The midfield, correct me if I'm wrong, are there to provide chances to their team and stop the opposing team making them. By my reckoning again this weekend Thistle has two or three chances in the entire 90 minutes and we made a good half dozen. By my reckoning that's a good midfield. It doesn't say much for Thistle, by contrast, if we never closed them down and they still made such few chances while their harder working midfield was so ineffective at stopping us too.

When it comes to our fans, we can be the worst with our young players. I mind posting last season about the abuse Amrstrong used to regularly get for not winning each game on his own and being responsible for every goal conceded.

It's not like Souttar is only 19 and still learning his way in the game playing several different positions in one season in a god awful team that has lost all semblance of confidence.

he needs someone to talk him through a game whether in back four or in midfield. He's not getting that from the current crop of "experienced" players. So he remains maddeningly inconsistent. Sometimes awesome when driving forward  then passes to no-one :X

You're not totally wrong about the midfield Cobs, but we had 13 attempts on goal, and got eff-all, and Thistle had 1 attempt and scored.

No Kawasaki this weekend as he has to sit an exam to prove that his fluent English is indeed, er, fluent. Shame the Government wouldn't just be happy with a Jim Spence interview with him.

I don't remember all these rules being mentioned before when other clubs sign players. Or maybe they do, and I've just not noticed.

I was going to make a joke about Celtic not having to "jump through so many hoops" to sign Nakamura, but I won't, so consider yourselves lucky....

there's enough on YouTube now to know that he'd be understood in a Lochee steamie and his test is already done and dusted, but still won't be around till New Year.

This David Southern is really making a big impact.....

I think its because we have now reached the point where signing this goalie constitutes the last hope of avoiding the drop.

Just to let you know the castle huntly lads are making their way up for this one. Don't be surprised to see Stuart Hall and old Rolf there as well.
