Things must be slow in news land if dragging up a non story from 15 years ago gets attention.

1. Why bother?

2. Has RM got a book to punt?

3. Dundee United City Football Club, who thought that was a name worthy of the merged entity.

4. Why did Jim pull the plug, why was it even considered a goer?

5. How.long till the next merger story emerges?

Having seen our neighbours at the weekend, the merger idea will probably gain traction again when we occupy the bottom two league spots.

I get the strong impression that the diddleys have acquired the kind of crappiness that gives even us some hope.

It was never going to happen unless our director ownership of their ground translated into a car park endgame.

They have. Unless they improve dramatically they can forget top six and start to look over their shoulder.

Their strike force isn't getting any ammo as their midfield is totally anonymous, their defence looks slow and ponderous and even the keeper is going through a tough patch. Worst of all, Greg Stewart is off the boil.

During every season there are always one or two teams that have long barren spells. We've had ours and hopefully are coming out of it (though clearly judgement on that is reserved). Dundee may be in theirs right now, having now gone 7 without a win.

But I thought Paul Hartley was a future manager of the year and in no way a fat wee tumshie who bolted out the door of his last club the minute the going got a little tough.

Yep, it's not going so well for wee Paul currently, though I suppose if you look around the game Hartley won't be the only Manager to revert between Messiah/Naughty boy status at regular intervals....

Nice of someone's to work out the colour scheme and branding behind the merged club if it ever happens (though of course it won't):
