We need to keep the positives from the last game and build. Another sloppy defeat is going to be a tough one to take.

Mixu's team starting to take shape. Not sure on Demel's fitness, but Gunning was thrown in, so he may be.

Interesting who will drop out if we stick with the same formation as last game. Souttar was better, Rankin's been carrying the midfield for a while.

Biggest impact could be if we sign a keeper in time.

Hopefully we can open strongly again, and get 2 goals up before we concede...

I'd put a small wager on Rankin being dropped.

I like Rankin: he's always involved and looks like he's trying really hard. I'm just not convinced of his effectiveness when it comes to creating stuff. And assuming Demel is going to be the pivot, Souttar would seem a more suitable foil. Do pivots have foils? They do in this analogy.

Three banks of three. Or a 3-6-1, or whatever.

............. Kawashima
... Morris Gunning Dillon
.. McGowan Demel Dixon
... Spittal Souttar Telfer
............... McKay

Also: we'll win. I've never been more certain of anything. 3-0 at least.

Hamilton have a number of young energetic and technically talented players in their side that may balance the fact they've also got Dougie Imrie.

If we play like Saturday last, we'll be lucky to scrape a draw

I guess there's a chance both may play, with Souttar a bit more advanced.

It would be tough to leave out Rankin, the player who looks like he cares the most, to leave him out in favour of someone who looks like they care the least.

However, Mixi has kept Souttar in the team when there's been other optons, right back, central midfield, so presume must want him to play.

I think it would be outrageous if Rankin was dropped. I get the reasons as to why he could be , but if there is one player throughout this dog of a season that has given everything he could, it's him. if nothing else, he deserves the chance to play in a team that could be set up to get some positive results.

If it's the case that Telfer had a reasonable 60mins last weekend, I would like to see him stay in for another week.

I'd like to see Telfer get some more time, he did well. But often he did well because he at Souttar playing him some decent passes .Take Souttar out and not sure if he'd do as well.

But we need some creativity in the final third, and it's not gong to come from Rankin or Souttar, and presume not Demel.

or Spittal
Whit?! Very good.

If Demel is able to slot right in, it will likely be for Souttar.
While he has undoubted potential, too often he's a passenger.
Rankin, on the other hand, has shown a consistent desire to compete, as well as being one of our more experienced heads.

Accies looked vulnerable down the flanks against Aberdeen so, hopefully, our new wing-backs can take advantage of that.

All going well, I'd hope to see

Szromnik
Morris Gunning Dillon
McGowan Demel Rankin Dixon
Spittall Telfer
McKay

Spittal was poor v. The Johnnies- didn't create, didn't get beyond McKay, lost possession in the tackle time after time. Always held back waiting for a short pass to feet with his back to goal, and invariably laid it back when he got a pass. We'e not going to penetrate Hamilton's defence with that kind of play in that position. I thought he'd mpve up a gear after the games v. The Dee. Sadly he hasn't- he's gone backwards.

Aye, okay then.
Watch the highlights again. We had four chances.
Spittall was instrumental in all of them.

TEAM NEWS IS RATHER WTF.

SZROMNIK, DILLON, DIXON, SOUTTAR, RANKIN, MCGOWAN, TELFER, DURNAN, GUNNING AND SPITTAL

(I'm guessing they've forgotten M'Kay.)

UTD SUBS | ZWICK, MURRAY, FRASER, SPARK, DONALDSON, TAGGART AND DEMEL

(Slightly regretting that 3-0 prediction now.)

And out of nowhere, I'm now going to this game with my father.
Everyone else is going to Camperdown cinema to see the Good Dinosaur or the Hunger Games.
Part of me wishes I was doing that, I think...

December 2013 was good though, right? That's something. When we're in the Championship next season, we'll still have the memory of December 2013.

Very odd.

United probably had about 10 shots on goal, Hamilton had two. For the first hour Accies looked incapable of posing any sort of threat but once they realised the trick is just to stop us kicking the ball out from goal kicks to a defender, we couldn't get the ball out of our half and there was constant pressure.

I'd like to point out that there was some good football and excellent individual displays from several of them, but it's worth very little when you keep throwing away games you should have easily won.

Very frustrating.
