Well that was a thoroughly enjoyable first half. Not particularly for United's performance, but for the joy of watching football in the pissing floodlit rain in May. Both teams seemed to enjoy it too. Very open and good fun. Great assist for our goal by a puddle. Couple of nice goals by them, plus lots of chances and sliding tackles that went on for ten yards. Second half a big damp squib. Dixon - terrible. What has happened to him? Constantly out of position yet no attacking threat and poor passing. McGowan disappointing, with Dillon improving things at right back when subbed. Fojut & Morris solid bit oh so difficult do they find it to pass to a teammate. Cierzniak seemed OK on the handling front, but distribution woeful. Rankin my MOM for getting stuck in and competing, which helped compensate for the cigars being smoked by Souttar and Telfer. Hmm. Lovely touches and passing by both, especially Souttar, but for a midfield battle in Inverness much more dynamism is required. Spittal had no impact. Muirhead and Ciftci looked very dangerous in the first half, then just couldn't get going second. Some reluctance to contest aerially was a concern. Erskine added clattering effort later but to no great benefit. Anier brought his usual absolutely f*ck all to proceedings for the final ten minutes, which is now becoming a useful courtesy to people who like to leave early. Rest assured, when Jackie sends Henri on, you'll miss nothing by heading for your car. Exciting drive afterwards involving aquaplaning and a flooded bridge (?!?). So that's third place a goner. Can we no just call it a season now? |

Sounds like a promising debut from Puddle. We don't want fourth, right? The risk of European qualification would likely knacker season 15/16, not least by impeding our ability to sign anyone who'd rather spend July in a San Antonio foam party. Fifth would be much better. The rules say we're not allowed to throw the next three games, however. Perhaps we need a player who looks to be trying, but whose abject awfulness guarantees we won't score a ... Oh, Anier. Of course. |

I guess we've got a different formation now, and less of a winger in front of him that he can work with, and often no-one in the box for him to aim for. But other than the Celtic game, he's looked a little lost. Maybe just tired and needs a new season to get back to some sharpness. |

A reminder once again that Dixon made his Scotland debut alongside Garry Kenneth, who recently moved from Carnoustie Panmure to Adamstown Rosebud. Signing ex players never works. I wish we'd stop doing it. |

Seemed like we had a few good chances from the highlights. Playing decent and creating chances is at least an improvement for much of the previous months. Muirhead seems to be involved in a lot of our play, seems like he's doing more than enough to keep his place up front. |

Muirhead definitely deserving of more game time. some proper touches of quality from him against ICT, and a decent physical presence too. With him & Nads up front, that's quite a handful for any defence to deal with and a nice variety of qualities for the rest of the team to service. |

A bit unlucky there. Augurs well for the 4th-6th place dog fight. |

San Antonio foam party If I had agoraphobia And if I had claustrophobia Trapped inside my porch Things would be bleak Especially midweek I'm beginning to warm to Henri Anier. Anyone that mince deserves to be a cult hero at least. Much better being resolutely crap beyond measure than merely average like, say, James Grady. I always really hated the banality of his mediocre trying-hard-but-not-really-much-goodness. |
