I am losing interest in the whole of Scottish football. Its run by idiots and morons. Just sick of the same old yet try not to care and United suck me in. Its like being attracted to the dark side. |

I'm far less bothered by United's current woes - we've seen that often enough over the last couple of decades, including much worse pickles than now - than by the caving in to Celtic's whiny bitching and continued blind eyes to Rangers's clear inability to have the ability to carry on trading in any sustainable manner. Otherwise, Scottish football is actually in rude health: trophies shared round as much as they ever have been, refreshing challenges from quarters previously unreported and attendances up in general across the board. |

I'm with Cob. OK, we're in a slough of despond because our season died on its arse in February, but these things are temporary. As a club, we're in good shape as far as we can tell. Much more concerning is that there was a great opportunity to make Scottish football structurally much more healthy in the absence of the Old Firm's stranglehold on all decisions. Instead, both SFA & SP(F)L showed they were a useless set of administrators with not a jot of sporting principle between them and seem dead set on learning nothing from the Rangers fiasco loop. The diddy clubs owners have not come out of things looking that great either - only fan uproar at the proposed parachute of the Ibrox Club into higher divisions prevented them acquiescing to it. The failure to change the 2-club veto in the top division will become a massive problem once again when the Ibroxers are back at their rightful place with a demented sense of grievance. There's still no sign of sanity prevailing behind the scenes at that club/company/holding company, or in the fans groups that seem to represent all the maddest opinion in their ranks. I've barely spoken to a Rangers fan who hasn't had a fairly reasonable grasp of what has happened at their club all the way back to Murray, yet their opinion is never expressed by those who claim to represent the fans' voices. That can only lead to trouble in the future. Generally, a collective lack of principle, imagination, long term thinking and basic business ability has been exposed at the heart and head of Scottish football, and that has got to be concerning for everyone considering the future of our game. |

Crisis is temporary. Remember that month we were scubbed 7-1 by Rangers and were rejected by Pat Fenlon? Four months later we won the Cup. A year after that, Houston lost 10 games out of 12 and was very nearly sacked. Spin forward another year and Sporting Lisbon has marked the sleekit wee kid making cameos from the bench as the next Messi. I think it was Nietzsche who said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." The clusterf*ck at the top of Scottish football is more permanent. Wassa's assessment of the leadership is correct in everything except the detail that their inadequacy has been exposed. They've always been inadequate. It was never a secret. We've seen that, year after year, any attempt to improve the lot for the majority gets beaten down by Glasgow's gracelessness with its economic tyranny. That won't change. In that context, if someone told me five ago that Rangers would be irrelevant for half a decade and there would be eight different winners of the big cups, I'd be surprised. The game's been pretty good recently, in spite of the people in charge. |

Ignoring the feeling that United have failed to make the most of the window of opportunity during this period of Rangers being out the Premier Division, the last few years have been hugely enjoyable. There have been a plethora of good stories and good players coming through that has made the football more compelling than any time since the 80s and arguably early 90s. It has unquestionably been good for the game in Scotland that Motherwell have been consistently good, other teams winning the Scottish Cup and League Cup and of course the rush of genuinely exciting young players that have made their way into the national conscience. The administrators also get props for the Split which has become even more exciting without the Huns. I quite like the split as it does ensure a degree of excitement right through to May. I think we should accept that has been a good thing. However, the events of the last few days have been hugely depressing. Celtic's need to bitch and whine about everything is tiresome enough, without them taking it to this level and now have effectively ensured Meekings misses the cup final. I agree with Tom English to a certain extent that the SFA are following rules, and by the letter of the law (agreed to by all clubs), they are right to bring this action, it has only been done to placate Celtic and their fans whose claim that a ref is biased against them for being a Hun, has essentially been legitimised by the SFA (if even Chic Young thinks they have gone to far then something really has gone awry). It is a window into what we will be welcoming back once the Huns evetually come back up. When that happens, Scottish football will be a more predictable, boring and sadly depressing place once again. Without the need of McNamara's eratic team management. |

Nailed it for me naebs. United have pissed me off, I can't deny that, but I'll defend Scottish football to anyone. The league itself at the moment is brilliant. |

Aberdeen, Dundee, Hearts and Inverness players all represented on this year's PFA shortlists. Remember the old formula of two from one, one from the other and a token pick who'd soon be on the back pages "dreaming of a move to Glasgow to join his boyhood heroes"? This, undeniably, is better than that. |

For me, it's all about next year. Can aberdeen close the gap further and be a genuine challenger. Other teams have been close in the past, but haven't managed to build year on year to become real challengers, they've faded / imploded while others have taken their place, only for them to repeat the failure. If Aberdeen can strengthen in the summer while Celtic lose their two key central defenders, could be interesting next year. Or of course, if others can join Aberdeen. So long as scottish football is working towards a league that is competitive, then it's going to hold my interest, even if it's a shame we're not the ones challenging right now. Rangers are a bit of a sideshow, but if they come up, it will make things a bit interesting in someways, as we see how they fair against better teams, but also back to feeling like it's the old days with most but the old firm ignored. Keeping them down makes things much more enjoyable for me. If aberdeen fall back, rangers rise, it's going to be bit of a duller future than it could be. And obviously the SFA / SPFL or whoever are incompetent fools, but not sure how that'll change. |

United still on a great eight year plateau with occasional sparkly bits. Celtic could still fall flat on their faces as in 1980. Following the mighty 'Gersco crushing 1-1 draw with bottom side Livi there is no doubt that their dream of regularly playing stronger opposition has come true whether they stay in the division they're in or make iit to the SPL. Those newly promoted sides do have a habit of yo-yoing though. |
