It'll be interesting if Souttar plays in midfield ahead of Rankin, but I'm assuming we'll try to punt the ball up front most times anyway, so it might not make much difference. |

Reports from Aberdeen suggested Souttar did okay after the 5-1-2-1-1 experiment was abandoned. You're probably right though. It'd be a surprise not to see Rankin's gigantic leathery face, like a grip-handed Action Man rendered in Cupernol. That insurance bet on Celtic at 1.41 is already back to 1.35. Taken profit and flipped it for long United at 10.5, because hope is like the sun which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us. |

Good game so far. Spittal, Telfer and Souttar have done well to keep the ball down and favour quick one-twos, which has made Celtic midfield look very average. Centre backs faultless so far. Muirhead looks promising, albeit lacking a bit in subtlety. Referee's been good, in spite of Celtic's constant moaning and incredulity at every single decision. Wonder how it's all going to go wrong this time? |

Dont care what anybody says, we were the much better team in the 1st half. Rado didna have very much to do in the 1st half. 1 good save on the line Dixon was mainly to blame for the 1st goal. He was way out of position. Still thought that Rado might've got a touch on it tho.. Not sure exactly what happened for their 2nd. After Smelsh1t scored it lifted them and our good play came in patches. Even after 2 down, still hoped we had a chance, but the SFA have obviously issued guidelines to the Refs to award Smelllsh1t a courtesy penalty after they were hard done by in the Scottish Cup.. Looked to me to be at least a yard outside the box. Wonder if Smells1it will put in a letter about that. The Broon in the Striped Pyjamas shoulda been aff. Dirty b@stard. The team played pretty well on the whole. JMac once again time after time, left it too late to make the changes. Spittal shoulda been off much earlier, as he was struggling today. Also Squiddy was phucked and shoulda been off. |

Good solid performance first half. Robbie M surprisingly lively but we failed to learn from the Inverness tactic of creating pressure on their back two. I thought Spittal played reasonably well but still lacks that wee bit of confidence to take people on and get behind them. Tom B's comment about Erskine was spot on.nhe looked leggy throughout the game and should have done better in defensive duties. Soapy was good today but Fojut was awful. He can't hit strikers with long balls and puts midfielders in trouble with his short passes. we remain vulnerable out wide despite Dixon and McGowan having slightly better games. telfer looked short of pace and some of his passes went astray sparking off counter attacks. Some solid tackles by Rankin but not at the pace of the game really. Good to see Coote getting his home debut. We have some good young players but have yet to get a pattern and game plan that suits them and the search in pre-season will be for a seasoned leader on the park. A morale boosting win on Sat v sheep would be good even if it does hand Celtic the league. |

Was fairly happy with the performance, seemed plenty of positive, although the result was against us. Muirhead did well, strong and willing runner, with few food shots. Some poor decisions but not going to complain about that. Until today, didn't really see how we would play him, but looks like he'll be useful up front. Suottar in the middle did well mostly, gave us that player with the vision and ability to move the ball forward quickly with accuracy in behind them or switched out wide. Few good tackles too. Spittal was decent also, worked hard and good on the ball. Dixon's best game for us for a while, even if defence is still shakey. Ref was mixed, didn't really see the penalty / free kick, not that it made much difference. But he let himself be bullied by Brown all afternoon. Never game a free kick against them without having to explain it to Brown. Overall, a decent game and performance. And thankfully Armstrong didn't seem to remember how to run with the ball. |

Another game, another challenge from Brown that for most would have been a red, for him a yellow. I guess we should be grateful it was a free kick. |

Looked like a yellow to me. Red would've been very harsh. The bigger issue with Brown is how he harrangues the ref from the first minute to the 90th. It'd be an interesting experiment for a referee to book him for this. (I can find only one example of Brown being booked for dissent. It was in 2007, in an away game against Shakhtar Donetsk that Celtic lost 2-0.) The penalty, obviously, wasn't. It was a ridiculous, unnecessary tackle though. Rankin seems a good chap off the pitch and can rarely be faulted for his workrate on it, but composure just doesn't seem to be his thing. |
