If there's one thing we need, it's to play a team that's in pretty much as bad form as us. So, glad we've got Hamilton. But with the exception we'll be able to get something from this game, going to be a bit of pressure. No idea on the team we'll get, but would like to see Telfer and Connolly both playing, in an attempt to have something positive going forward, so Ciftci can stick to being a front player. |

Just about the only team we seem likely to beat at the moment. We'd better. |

... deliver a fearless, positive performance with a team that looks designed for the next two seasons rather than for surviving the next 30 minutes. And if we lose, allow us to lose in the right manner. Lord save us from Erskine. Forever and ever. Amen. McGowan Souttar Fojut Dixon Connolly Butcher Telfer Spittal ........... Muirhead Ciftci |

I think Telfer, like Spittal, Connolly, Bilate and even Anier are only going to progress if they're given a bit of time to develop understandings with other players. I've no idea where Spittal really plays. He's played about 4 positions for us. |

Seems like Fojut is a doubt, so that could be a bit of miss in the defense, although it does mean souttar is more likely to start. Surely today's game is a good chance to get back to some passing football. |

In the end, was a good result, of not a great performance. Clearly Hamilton are a bit low on confidence and don't seem to have much in reserve. Still, had it not been for Cierzniak's good series of saves in the second half, we could have been heading for defeat again. Conditions were a bit changeable, which didn't always help, but at times we did pass the ball better. He wasn't perfect, but Telfer did that important job of at least trying to move the ball quickly and intelligently, which was important for our goal. Much of out better play came when we were able to get the ball moved around quickly. We were often a bit static up front, but Bilate offered more of a presence and caused them more to think about. Ciftci didn't have his best game, being dominated by a right back playing the middle and trying to beat a group of players too often. Connolly, Erskine and Spitall all worked quite hard, but were often leaving balls to each other and not supporting each other. Far too often Spittall had a bit of space but no options, and just wasted it. Dixon had a mixed game, lot of mistakes, but also got forward much more often which helped. Morris had is usual mistake which thankfully didn't cost us, but dominated Hasslebaink. Souttar was ok, if anything it was his passing that seemed rushed and forced that let him down. Paton had a decent game, got around the pitch well enough and made his presence known. Thankfully they didn't have much to offer as they should have taken advantage of our disorganisation a more, most teams would have. Ref was decent, rightly booked a few of their players for poor challenges and didn't seem to do anything crazy. Overall, should at least stop all the mention of winless runs, conceding goals and no goals from open play. And I forgot Muirhead, who I still can't work out what he does. A very scrappy game, which TBH was what Id thought it would be. Very stop-start with fouls both ways. We started well, and maintained that for the 1st half. Rado saved us today by making 4 or 5 excellent saves. We had hardly any shots on goal, about 6 or seven I reckon, hardly troubling their keeper, maybe one or twice only. Defence again was poor IMO. Accies were able to get in our box and make attempts about twice as much as us. There was a 7 minute period in the 2nd half when they were in our box with corners, free kicks and just straight forward gile. Bilate coming on changed the game. He was able to hold the ball, and kinda control things around the Accies box, allowing Shifty to be more attacking in their box He was sort of a nuisance player for us. Spittal struggled. MIOTM for me was either Connolly or Telfer, possibly Erskine. Great win, but the reactions for the goal and final whistle were more from feelings of relief, than celebration. |

And there was me thinking, being a native speaker, that I was au fait with most nouns that Scottish English could offer. For the first time today, I'm as wrong as wrong can be. |

Well it's a relief to know there's at least one team even more sh1te than us at the moment. As defensive unit we were awful, but I thought Soapy had a good game and by next season I honestly think no one will get past him. Our full backs cause me major concern and teams continually get.behind us on both sides much too easily. In fact today we played a back 3 and 5/8 with Dixon much further forward-a style no doubt designed to suit the fact he can't get back and forward as quickly as he once used to. However he still failed to deliver an effective cross into the box and his free kick clearance of the Shed in the first half when in a good threatening position summed up his general poor standard of dead ball delivery since he came back. McGowan is aggressive enough but like Dixon can't stop balls coming in from out wide at all and doesn't carry even the level of threat that Keef used to from out wide in attack. In midfield Paton was much better doing what he does best- breaking up attacks and laying the ball off simply. teller wasn't great but I reckoned he was moving the ball better and given his llack of involvement in play recently it wasn't a bad return. I thought Jackie would change the three supporting Ciftci earlier because tbh, Spittal had struggled in the first half by losing possession regularly when put in a great position to develop play out wide. Invariably he would check his run then cut inside and lose the ball in the tackles . When Bilate came on ahead of Ciftci up front, we looked much more threatening, and if we could only start a game with Ciftci playing slightly behind,mi think Nadir would be more of a threat than as an out and out target man. Erskine in my view, wasn't great, ran into trouble a lot, but took his goal well.mConnolly was busy but is probably best when coming on as the game opens up with more space and in tighter situations still gets brushed off the ball too easily. Finally Rado- hmmm every time.you saw the ball bobbling towards him today the crowd took a sharp intake of breath. His free kick save from Crawford might have been lucky in the end but he did have a couple of others and a clean sheet, however fortunate, might just give him enough confidence to get through the rest of the season without more howlers. Jackie was lucky today, but maybe we could do with a lucky manager |
