A derby could be just what we need right now, as it'll hopefully inspire the players to push on for the whole 90 mins, with a good work rate and tempo. A win could really help to get us back on track, on and off the field.

Or, a defeat here, especially a defeat in the manner of many of the recent losses, could see things damaged beyond repair.

So given all that, it's likely to be a draw.

Presume McGowan will be back in if he's clear of suspension, hopefully we don't drop Souttar to accommodate Dillon in the middle. And want to see Telfer starting, needs to get experience of these more physical, big games.

Also, it might be one for the reassessing players later, and I know he's still in development, but has anyone seem much from Muirhead to suggest he's ready for a place in the team? He always looks a bit lost to me when he plays.

Muirhead looked okay to me on Saturday, and he's had 42 games for Kilmarnock, so if he looks lost it might be a temporary thing. My first impression was that he's big, direct and a bit stupid, like a V2.0 Jim Hamilton.

Some new kid winger apparently did well for the Special Needs team this afternoon, getting a hat trick. Chuck him on the bench. See what happens.

Justin Johnson no less. Sounds more like a gay gowfer tbh.

I'm hoping Morris is back alongside Soapy but otherwise can't find many grounds for disagreement with Naebs picks.

If we get away from there with a 1-1 we should be happy

I think Ali Coote could be closer to a promotion: he's been getting great reviews for ages and scored two himself today. He's been on the bench quite often too. A gallus young guy who may lift the crowd and be an unknown quantity could be just what we need...especially as the Dee may be struggling a bit at the back with Irvine and McPake both doubtful. Willie Dyer is certainly a weak link for them if he's playing, so get Coote down one wing, Connolly down the other and go at them from the off. They'll be nervous enough after the start they made to the last derby so attack them and be rewarded.

JMac picks the wrong starting 11 +
JMac subs the wrong on-field players +
We play like we did the 2nd half Saturday +
We let them score 1st
= we'll get thumped.

Cant make myself any clearer than that.

It's a tough one. Usually all for giving the younger players a chance, but the added pressure of this particular game, added to the derby might make it a tough one to make an impact in.

But we badly need freshening up. When Anier was stepping onto the pitch on Saturday, could feel people just give in. We need someone the crowd can get behind or at least cause a bit of excitement.

In the past, McNamara's not been hesitant to play people regardless of age. Hopefully he gets back to that. Wonder he gets a bonus for players developed when he was here, even if he's not?

I'm pleased McGowan will be back in. Bit of leadership and responsibility required, and he seems to offer it.

Rest of the team - I haven't a clue what is required.

Lets just hope he can avoid getting sent off...

Do expect him to fly into a tackle though, and if the last few weeks have taught us anything, it's we play better with 10 men.

Beaton's the ref, who I think is average enough.

We've absolutely f*ck all left to play for this season so I'd be happy with substituting the development team for the first team and let them sink or swim. Otherwise it's just going to be one big long borefest of 3-0 defeats punctuated with the occasional 1-1 draw. Yes, it's 2001 again.

On a brighter note, my busy life procludes me from witnessing any of these exercises in soul destruction over the next few weeks, but I do have tickets for Valencia v Levante at the Mestalla on Monday, my attendance at which I'm keenly anticipating.

That's what I really like to see... plenty optimism just before we play our nearest and dearest. :smack:

I'm not feeling that positive. 3 goals in last 8 games, no league clean sheet since November. Not conceding tonight might help get some badly needed defensive confidence back and at least get us a point.
