Back to normality now the Celtic series and Scotland games are out of the way.

Hopefully the players are refreshed and eager, not thinking of their summer holidays.

Ross County have 5 wins in last 6 games, we've 1 in 6. So it's not going to be easy.

I'd hope we can go into this game trying to get back to playing a game that suits us, rather than some attempt to play to the opposition. Think Souttar should keep his place even if others are back, he did well and helped to get a passing game going. All we need is someone in the midfield to carry that on.

Seems like McGowan is suspended, and Morris is injured.

So presume will be Dillon Souttar Fojut Dixon at the back. Which is maybe not a bad thing.

I really want to see Souttar get games between now and the end of the season. Even if everyone else is fit, I'd be striving for the best partner for him at CB, or even experimenting with 3 at the back, Souttar in the Baresi role.

In a rare turn of events, I'm going to this. They'd better not be shit.

....... German keeper
Spittal Souttar Fojut Dixon
.......... Butcher
. Connolly Telfer Dow
....... Bilate Ciftci

See, that's a really good team that one (keeper aside...Rado's just getting back into form). Lots of attacking flair present and Butcher still to mop up the crumbs...it would put County on the back foot instantly and have them worrying about United rather than United worrying about them. Unfortunately, we're not likely to see it. Paton (at least) will play to spoil the upbeat mood. Jackie's unlikely to go with only one holding midfielder ahead of Souttar.

Not least because Bilate is injured!

Isn't he always?

Ok, I'd probably be happy to see Muirhead given a go then.

Given what's been happening in the background, we really could do with an early goal to get things positive.

So would like to see team like that, and for us to just go for it.

Presume we'll have Dow supporting and paton holding, but we should just push on.

Should be a fascinating afternoon at Tannadice on a number of levels. Good day to make a visit, Naebs.

It's in everyone's interests that United come out strong, committed and of course win.

Anything much less than that and things could get nasty.

Oh. Was hoping his full name was Bilate-Hamstring.

Anier to start, then? Clearly, I'd rather he didn't. But he's on a 2.5 year contract, so I guess it's sensible to give him a few more chances before paying him off and sending him across the road.

No idea how that front 4 is going to pan out. Should be interesting.

Would be nice to see the Paton & Rankin combo not be shite for the first time in a while.

Well then.

Spittal looks decent in the middle, albeit a bit lacking in presence. If he tries really hard, apples himself and gets an extended run in the position with a few lucky breaks, he might be the new Eoin Jess.

Still not seeing the point of Erskine.

Connolly has a bit of Andy McLaren about him, though not quite enough yet. If he's to move onto better things, he'll need to get quicker.

Nice to be watching a game without hating the opposition.

In-play betting when you're at the game is surprisingly difficult.

That is all.

Well then.

Not quite sure what went wrong in the second half. The guy with the ponytail was moved over to mark Connolly, I think, which certainly worked. Whichever way, it seemed like Rankin was the only one with space to do anything, which wasn't ideal as doing things isn't his forte.

As soon as we lost the second goal, we looked beaten. That's a team in the habit of losing.

The substitutions really didn't help: all that happened was that Ciftci was displaced by people with much less ability. I'm no strategy expert, but it seems to me that when you're chasing a game you don't want your goalscorer standing around at left back for throw-outs from the keeper.

I was wondering this morning whether to move my flight to take in the Dundee derby. Don't think I'll bother now.
