If anything it's a foul to United. And a yellow card for diving.

What is this Brown Precedent? He done a rough one on Ciftci and wasn't punished? Meh. Get over it.

He wants a yellow card for that pointless little flapper-dance thing he tries, which succeeds only in giving McGowan enough space to hit the ball.

I fear the day when the modern game has no room left for the glorious spectacle of a kid with poncy tricks being halted forcibly by someone who's entirely done with their shit.

He's been sent off for causing a spectacular face plank - but it's a no nonsense bone shuddering fair tackle.

McGowan for captain next season.......

Just going by the beeb highlights a bright enough first half but terrible penalty box defending with defenders attracted to the ball like idiots.

Well, 2 of the goals actually come from outside the box. I would argue that Rado misjudged the GMS shot ball swerve but it shouldn't have got near him anyway if the midfielders were doing their jobs in closing down- they weren't.

2nd goal - again, a pact enough midfielder could have tracked Gudetti's run across the 18 yard line and blocked the shot. Instead it's left to Soapy to try a last desperate lunge and he's unlucky that his deflection clears Rado.

Third goal- Butcher is sleeping.

Looks like the random SFA coins toss came down reject appeal for McGowan.

Ok, so that's the benchmark established. Tackling Liam Henderson isn't allowed, whereas kicking Scott Brown in the head is. Adapt tactics accordingly.

I'm quite looking forward to the next Celtic game now.

Makes no sense to me, that one. But neither did the Ciftci one in our favour. Is this an evening out of appeal decisions?

If it's true that Ciftci was excused because United got them on a technicality -- as in, use of the word "intentionally" in the rap sheet -- then it's not a big surprise to see the decisions evened up contrary to the evidence. This Old Testament approach does rather undermine the whole point of the disciplinary panel though. It's a decent idea that has been completely undone by the blusterous ineptitude of the people involved. It's Scottish politics in microcosm.

Didn't I say on here at the time of the 'Gunning incident' at Easter Road that the whole 'match compliance officer' scenario would open a whole can of worms and I was slagged off for doing so (well that's my memory of it anyway)

Probably.

Although I seemed to say it'll take 4-5 years to get a good system and we've only had 2.

With respect, Yas, you didn't really. You argued it was bad to have a compliance officer review specific incidents based on prompts from third parties. I'm still entirely fine with that aspect of the system. I'm less comfortable with the assumption of guilt and the secret hearings, but those aspects aren't really the problem either. The problem is that the panel makes demonstrably wrong decisions. If it made demonstrably right decisions, none of this would be an issue. Worms would remain canned.
