Hopefully there's a reaction to the cup loss, but it's going to be a tough match. On the positive, we've Ciftci back for at least a few minutes.

A combative 3 didn't work, a combative 4 didn't work, so following the logic, it seems like we're in for a combative 5 midfield. Maybe Spittal will get to come on this time.

Whatever we do, just need to keep in the game as we have done for the opening 45, and take it from there.

We've a chance. Will be difficult but here's hoping. Celtic are no great shakes.

Depends largely on who's knackered. If everyone's okay:

............. Cierzniak
McGowan Morris Fojut Spark
Spittal Paton Butcher Rankin
................ Dow
.............. Ciftci

Against Kilmarnock, Spark had a shocker (who didn't though). I think I might shift McGowan to the left and bring in SPittal:

Cierzniak

Spittal, Fojut, Morris, McGowan

Dow, Paton, Rankin, Butcher

Connolly

Ciftci

think I might shift McGowan to the left
... which'd be the fourth position McGowan had played within four games. These kinds of greater-good rejigs make me wary. They remind me too much of when we were playing Barry Robson at left back.

I like the Jim McLean philosophy of picking players who had a stinker the week before, because they'll try extra hard to compensate. The alternative permutations -- such as playing a right back at left back and a winger at right back -- don't seem preferable to giving a kid another chance.

Johannsen is out, so I presume Forrest will be in, especially after his goal last game. So whoever is left back is going to need to be a good enough defender with pace.

I'd say that rules out Rankin, would be a lot of pressure for Spark, and makes McGowan the best option.

Or we could get Dillon to do another of his tackles on Forrest, who does seem injury prone.

Perhaps Dillon could do him in the tunnel.

Not a euphemism.

The new Mark Burchill. He should concentrate on the next series of Burnistoun.

Looks like he is suspended, so will need to be the tunnel approach.

Celtic manager Ronny Deila: "If you are good at something you have to continue doing what you are good at, not start doing something else. We want to build on what we are good at and do that even better. I'm not into surprising opponents so much. I want them to fear us for what we are - they know what's coming and don't know how to handle it. That's our goal in the future."

Where did Celtic find this cockrocket?

Today's brilliant team idea:

.. Spittal Morris Fojut Dow
................ Souttar
McGowan Paton Butcher Rankin
.............. Ciftci

Souttar sweeping behind the back four in the style of Siggi Jonsson. Dow -- yes, Dow -- at left back with instructions to be as irritating as possible. Mid four on the same gameplan as Saturday, though perhaps sitting a bit deeper to allow the full backs to overlap. Free role for Ciftci to do whatever he fancies.

2-2 aet. United win on Penalties.
