At least a good chance to move on from the last result, although another bad result and pressure will be mounting. We have bounced back from poor results in the past, so could easily do so again.

Presume Rado will be back in goal and Telfer will start, but no idea what team or tactics we'll get.

I won't make it there. With Morris out and Dillon in the back 4 I don't have much confidence in getting at least one point.

0-2

I think the only reason to bring back souttar quickly from injury is if we're wanting to get back to the passing out from the back approach. Otherwise, I think it's going to be Dillon.

Telfer needs to start regardless - we need someone who'll want the ball and use it well.

I'd put Citfci back up front, I've never liked him deeper, he does all his good work in a part of the pitch where it's not so effective, and ends up shooting from 40 years instead of 25.

Surely both Connolly and Muirhead will be desperate to show what they can do now GMS is gone - one of them needs to get a start.

It would also be nice to get to a position where we don't make 3-4 changes per match.

ICT haven't been beaten this year - 6 wins and 2 draws. It's going to be a tough one.

Why would we not want to get back to that approach?

In the past it was an easy decision, but as the squad has changed over time, it seems to be less well suited to an all out passing game. And we've played a lot more direct of late (not just the St Johnstone incident). Maybe it's down to the manger, maybe is down to low levels of confidence in the players.

I'd say the likes of Dow, Butcher, Anier etc are more likely to cause problems through work rate and winning the ball high up the field than they are by passing their way forward. Especially when the ball first has to pass through Dillon / Fojut then Paton / Rankin on the way forward from the keeper.

Even if we add souttar into that mix, is it going to help?

To be fair to Naebs, Souttar is our only hope at present for a defender who can make an incisive run with the ball out of central defence and make a pass. The others are like Bambi on ice when they've got the ball at their feet. Those of us also who regularly witness Jareks efforts to pass from the back will readily subscribe to the need to bring some class to the back line.

And despite his error prone displays last season, the lad does have that class. I just hope he can over the coming year or two add to his heading and his concentration level.

I fear that it may still be too early to see him back post injury. My bet is that we see him in the home league game v. The 'tic, but not before.

To be fair to Naebs,
Jesus. That was like someone walking over my grave.

........... Szromnik,
Dillon, McGowan, Fojut, Dixon,
..... Paton, Butcher
Connolly, Erskine, Dow
............... Ciftci

Can't argue with that lineup. Nothing extraordinary for the job of winning this game, rather than the next one. So let's get on with it.

This next 45 minutes could be the making or breaking of this game. Let's hope the manager shuffles the pack A LOT. We need to rely on the element of surprise to get back into this bad, bad bastard of a game.

So- does that seem like a victory. Sounds like a brave second half performance topped by a McGowan goal .
