Couple of great finishes from Dow, hopefully his form in the attacking midfield areas of the pitch can allow us to forget Stuart Whatisname and GM? quite quickly...

Onwards and upwards.

shoe-in.
Shoo. It comes from horse-racing slang. In a fixed race, the favourite was said to have dropped behind a slower horse and shooed it to the post. I note this only because the image has a nice pre-war cartoonish feel.

Anyway .... can't short United into the draw. Betfair doesn't have a book open. Sods.

Dear Mr Kavanagh,

Thank you for getting in touch.

We do not focus on one team when covering live cup matches. Our contract with the Scottish League Cup allows us to show one match from each round including the semi-finals so we look at the fixtures and decide which matches to cover based a number of criteria including audience interest. For the recent semi-finals in this competition, we did make an offer to show the Dundee United v Aberdeen match as well as Celtic v Rangers. The clubs declined our offer in order to ensure a 3:00pm kick off for the travelling fans. It is also worth pointing out that had we been able to show the game live it would have needed to be a very early kick off to cover the possibility of extra time and penalties as live football can’t be shown between 2:45 and 5:15 on a Saturday.

We also have the television rights for the Scottish Cup and broadcast live matches from the latter rounds. In the Scottish Cup, Sky Sports have first pick of a live match so not every game is available to us. We aim to provide a varied offering in all competitions across the season.

We realise that not everyone will agree with every choice we make but our coverage throughout the season across various platforms provides a comprehensive choice.

Thank you, once again, for taking the time to contact us.

All complaints are sent to senior management and ‘Sportscene’ every morning and we’ve included your points in this overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future programmes.

Details of the BBC complaints process are available online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/handle.shtml

Kind regards

Neil Salt

Fair enough.

Besides, you telling me 90% of Scottish fans would rather see a pedestrian win for a big team over a wee one rather than another Ibrox humiliation? The Beeb know what they're doing.
