It seems like the below players are out of contract in the summer.

Callum Butcher
Radoslaw Cierzniak
Sean Dillon
Michael Gardyne
Brian Graham
Gary Mackay-Steven
Jordan Moore
Keith Watson
Mark Wilson

So, should we be offering new contracts to any of them? I'd say:

Wilson - I presume will go, not featured this season
GMS - Seems set on going, which is probably best move for him
Graham, Gardyne - have no future, so likely gone.
Watson - probably the hardest one - for couple seasons now he's been average and not showing signs of getting better - time for a new club?

Butcher - shown himself to be a decent option of late, is still youngish, so would keep
Cierzniak - unless we know he's going, surprised we've not signed up. He's got limitations, but is a very good keeper and we don't have lined up replacement yet, so risky to let go.
Moore - seems like just starting to get fit, would seem harsh to drop now, worth giving full season at least to see what he can do
Dillon - keeps showing he's valuable to the squad, would make sense to keep

I love Cheezy, despite the occasional high profile clanger. I'm also surprised we haven't resigned him or made it be known he's offski.

Dillon might be worth hanging onto, and despite the PT match, can see Watson's future as a CB for us. Would anyone else want Butcher?

So I'd keep all the players who already play regularly for us, surprise surprise, but who knows what wages we can afford.

Anyone have an opinion on Jordan Moore?

Rado will be off at the end of his contract (unless someone comes in for him during the window) His family have never settled here.

United are Cz's 14th club since 2001 and his stay here has been his longest ever stretch of employment. Is his family nomadic?

Butcher, surely, we keep. At a time when both Paton and Rankin have been dodgy for differing reasons, he's proved himself a more than capable understudy. Also, I like that he wears the expression of a confused, exasperated dog whose owner has done the "pretend to throw the ball" thing once too often.

Dillon: if he wants to stay then he's welcome to. But it's no disaster if he doesn't; there's no shortage of not-very-fast, not-very-tall right backs in the world.

Watson: I see McDiarmid Park featuring prominently in his future.

GMS will leave with our sincerest thanks and best wishes.

Jordan Moore: 12 month extension. Whether he merits it or not is irrelevant. His career has been on put pause, and employers are obligated to give people the opportunity to restart from where they left off.

can see Watson's future as a CB for us.
I just can't. He's got a good jump on him and a bit of pace, so can be good in that way, but he tends to be positionally a bit random and doesn't add solidity to the defence.

We've got Morris / Souttar as partners for Fojut, and Dillon can cover if needed, much better than Watson. Then there's Butcher who can drop back if needed. I'm not sure we need a makeshift centre back as 6th choice.

He's a decent right back, has a good game from time to time, but he's not the steady defensive player, or the great attacking option that I think we need. He's a sort of mix of both, without being great at either role.

Was it not Everton that dumped Stubbs as soon as they could in similar circumstances? Or maybe that was just rumours.

The Stubbs thing was a "Special Notice Condition" in his contract to limit liability if he relapsed. Stubbs wanted the clause removed and Everton said they'd only do that on a one-year deal. Not really comparable to Moore.

Meanwhile: GMS says he's staying until summer, according to Spence, after "a bid or bids" was or were rejected. Seems rather early in the transfer window to be definite about such things.

To speculate ... what happens if a player signs a pre-contract agreement with one club then his club agrees a transfer fee with another club? I guess the player just rejects the move, right?

How's Michal Szromnik been doing in the development league? Is he ready to step up if Rado leaves?

There were a few of us surprised we had signed another keeper at the start of the season, but perhaps this indicates why?

Graham, Gardyne - have no future, so likely gone.
That's a bit sinister looking, Set...

I think I'm in broad agreement with most so far.

Dillon, Butcher, Moore - keep
Watson, Rado - not fussed. I think they're both decent but far from irreplaceable.
Gardyne, Graham, Wilson - fly free!
GMS - all the best, you cheeky young scamp. Thanks for the memories, most notably the first-leg against Moscow, that trick against St Johnstone and your BBC Alba interview.

My sources tell me Rado's family would rather be elsewhere. He won't be at Tannadice next season.

Amended slightly

I like Watson- he's never let us down really and always does well against the Dees. Give him another year and see if his knees strengthen a bit.
Too many errors from Rado for my liking- poor kick outs- shot stoppers are 10 a penny but I think the market for keepers is better these days.

I'd like to think that that £100k bid frm Sheff United for GMS was so insulting that he decides to stay with us another year and plays a blinder every week till next January and then signs for Wednesday for £1m.

But if he leaves earluer I can't grudge him another shot at EPL/Championship glory- glad we've got Connolly though.

We've been so careful with Moore that I can't see him doing anything other than suddenly exploding on the scene as a double act with young Jim Spence...er............... Simon Murray

Callum Butcher- keep.
Radoslaw Cierzniak - I'd like him to stay, but if he goes we should be able to get a replacement without too much fuss.
Sean Dillon - I'd keep. Dependable and he's had a good season.
Michael Gardyne - Off, but we all said that about Erskine last year.
Brian Graham - Obviously away. Not over-bothered.
Gary Mackay-Steven -I'll miss him and hope he goes down south rather than stays here with a different club. I'd hate that.
Jordan Moore - Never seen him play so not really got an opinion.
Keith Watson - I'd keep him if possible. I reckon we underrate him and think back to the likes of Rab Shannon, Jamie McQuilken and Mark Perry who filled that berth in years past.
Mark Wilson - Bye, bye, again, Mark.

While I'm here, what about this guy? Any future in re-signing him?

Ha ha, very good Cob. No way are we resigning Charlie Miller.

I'm surprised by the indifference Cierzniak's impending departure seems to have provoked.

I'd agree Rado's mostly been excellent for Utd, however the indifference is probably because he's made more glaring errors in the last 8-12 months than he made in his 1st season or so at the club, so there's probably a suspicion he's in decline, or perhaps we've already seen the best of him?

We've been lucky enough to pick up a good keeper every few years recently, so let's hope we can continue that trend (or Szromnik can fill the gap, ooh err missus).

The think with changing goalkeepers is it's always a big risk. We have been fortunate in our last 3-4 that they've been very good.

But Pernis has his limitations, as did Zaluska. Neither have been really exceptional, but more than good for us.

I guess McCallum or Szromnik could be worth a try, but I've not seen much of either, so don't know if they're up to it. if not, we've a few months to find someone who is.
