Scotland the trendsetters, we were losing to Costa rica at world cups before it became fashionable. |

Despite the draw, I think Germany are looking pretty good, although could be a tough next game for them depending on the result tonight. And it seems the fantasy league now has points, and I'm 4th. |

What, in the whole world? Made the schoolboy error of chasing extra points by changing Captain from Messi to Lukaku yesterday.....it seems Marc Wilmots' misgivings about his all round play was well founded, with Origi coming on and scoring, I'd be amazed if he even starts Belgium's final game. Still a great tournament so far though (thought Ghana were excellent against Germany on the break), though I'm sure the early group stages were pretty good in 2006 as well, before the 'safety 1st' mentality set in when it came to the knockout stages....hopefully things will be different this time round though. |

Is there anything more predictable than a Italy defensive performance that just doesn't quite work? Other than Suarez biting someone obviously. Edited by Setenza, Jun 24 2014, 06:15 PM.

9 Match Ban and no football for 4 months for Suarez. Until they appeal presumably. Is that Liverpool's title chances gone once again? |

This impressive tournament continues with what was probably my pick of the lot up to this point. Tremendous showing from Algeria, who must consider themselves proud of running a strong Germany team that close. A good shout to have the Algerian keeper in my fantasy team too... Hope for Scotland too, in that it proves if you really go at the Germans you may get some reward. France v Germany could be tasty too, later this week. |

Yep. Game of the tournament so far. Algeria were excellent throughout, with Feghouli in particular impressing. Wasted their first half chances, with easy cut-backs passed up for glory shots. Loved their composure on the ball though, especially compared to the often leaden-footed Germans. Özil and Goetze were honking, though I think their biggest problem is Lowe. |

Yep, another great game. That's a good point re Scotland Cob, had forgotten we have to play Germany soon. Thankfully they're not the finished article at the moment, as they're probably a couple of decent fullbacks and an out and out striker away from being back to their best. Thought Khedira helped when he came on even if he's still only half fit, will be interesting if they can make the team against France. Well done on placing faith in Mbohli in the FF, I bottled it and kept Cillesen's 9pts in. Though Boateng did score a fairly ridiculous 12 points even without a cleansheet. Özil really is the definition of a luxury player, he seems to have regressed since the last WC, which is a real shame as he looked World Class in SA. On a less positive note, was depressing to read about the allegations of match fixing in the Cameroon team, when you watch the lack of tracking back, keepers diving out of the way of shots and getting beaten at their near post, free headers from corners and players fighting between themselves in the Croatia highlights below, it does make you wonder.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28102841 |

Yeah, my favourite match of the tournament also. Exciting and absorbing. I seemed to be the only person left cold by the Chile-Brasil game. I think the media automatically confer an extra 30% excitement to any game involving Brazil, irrespective of what the game or Brasil is actually like. |

Has been good so far, although not as good as Glenn Hoddle mixing up Algeria and Al-Jazeera. At least wasn't Al-Qaeda. |

I thought tonight's Belgium v US game was if anything even better than the last night's one. Exhilarating throughout the whole of extra time. Can this standard continue throughout the Quarters? I'll be impressed if it gets near this excitement. |

Bit of a stinker between France and Germany, but a good match this evening. Certainly a physical element to Brazil as they kicked Rodriguez out of the game and the ref seemed to lose control pretty early on. Could be a tough match against Germany for them. |

No Thiago Silva and Neymar against Germany. Their best 2 players. |

Germany grinding out the wins now. France were disappointing, getting completely bossed in the midfield. While I initially admired the referee in the Brasil game for not being too quick to flash his cards, it quickly spiralled out of control, especially with the treatment doled out to Hamez Rodriguez. The fact that he then booked the young fella for one mistimed tackle only rubbed salt into the wound. Still, Zuniga seemed happy to reciprocate with his nasty challenge on Neymar. (Did anyone else wince when, with a suspected spinal injury, they rolled him onto the stretcher and then bounced him around as they jogged off the pitch?) Colombia seemed a bit spooked until the last quarter, when they started to find some space to play in and Brasil started to panic. |
