Looks like we're not getting Tafazolli.

Kinda surprised he'd be considered a priority, as we seem to have enough dumb muscle for the coming season in Butcher and that bampot from Dunfermline. In terms of priorities, I'd hoped: 1. get Good back on loan; 2. locate a cynical goal-hanging striker near the end of his career; 3. give GMS Chinese burns until he re-signs.

For all his strengths, Macnamara's signing strategy remains very much unproven.

ETA: Today's Tully mentions Jiri Lenki in the tour party. I guess he could be related to Jiri Lenko, a journeyman left-sided defender last seen at SC Wiener Neustadt, and possessor of a bog-awful showreel.

Hey, hang on there .....

left-sided defender

left-sided defender

left-sided defender

Bums.

We've got a new defender also says the united site.

Quote:

Dundee United today announced the signing of defender Jarosław Fojut, subject to international clearance. The Polish centre half, who left Norwegian Club Tromsø in the summer, joins on a two year deal.

The 26 year old started his career in England with Bolton Wanderers where he also spent loan periods at Luton Town and Stockport County before joining Slask Wroclaw in 2009. He played over 50 times and was linked with a move to Celtic before joining Tromsø in December 2012. The 6' 2" defender has featured for Poland at Under 23 level.

Manager Jackie McNamara said, "Jarosław is a strong and aggressive player.

Aggressive, eh?

Here he is after attacking an advertising hoarding with his nose...

Presumably he didn't feature against us in 2011 or the official site would have mentioned it.

His wiki page is a catalog of unfortunate injuries . I expect him to slip on a pen and fracture a vertebrae or two when he walks into Tannadice for the pre tour meet.

He does have a decent number of games under his belt though. So hopefully will keep Souttar working hard.

It appears Tromsø released him with a year still remaining on his contract, which'd be odd given he was a regular-ish starter. Anyone know the story there?

ETA: well, he's a big unit ...

Between Fojut, Morris, Souttar, Dillon and Butcher, we should have decent options and competition for the central positions. I think hard to say who'll be the first choice, which is probably a good thing.

Large and clumsy, but hard if he ever catches up with anyone. Meh.

Sort it out, Housty.

We do seem to have gone for the big aggressive types. No doubt come christmas, there'll be calls for a defender who can pass the ball.

It's a rule I've just made up that managers want to recreate the most successful team they played in. So: Morris is the Stubbs and this big fella is the Rieper. Plausibly.

Try that theory on EastFud and brace yourself for page upon page of "Grim" banter.

Here - silence.

Well that's obviously Brian Graham, I'm just trying to remember if Mcnamarra was Watson or Robertson

Sure it was Wilson. Signed his own replacement.

Courier says we've rejected bids for GMS and Robertson. Surely GMS is better than League 1, can't see that being a good move for him.

Also, the trial left back seems to have gone home without any deal.
