The Liverpool Echo today seems pretty sure Roberto Martinez will come calling for Robertson.

Sale and leaseback, please!

(If a sale must be done)

Echo

Martinez is satisfied with his current first-team options in both full-back slots with Coleman and Tony Hibbert, who is in talks over a new deal, competing on the right, and Leighton Baines, Bryan Oviedo and Luke Garbutt available at left-back.

Hm. Not much prospect of starting a first-team game any time soon.
Take note, young sir!

I'd take Kenny McLean in a heartbeat. (I'm assuming one of our front players will be off sooner rather than later and that Erskine and Gardyne are off).

Can we leave the phrase "in a heartbeat" to Howling Mad? Gets right on my pip.
Oooo, hark at you.

I wasn't aware it was a footballing cliché, not frequenting that site of which you talk.

Consider its use ceased forthwith.

One bloke on Eastfud suggested we sign McFadden, Boyd and Allan. :'(

Allan, the Record says today, is interesting McCoist. He belongs there.

Sounds like a player.

Had better be a big hard as nails, no nonsense, tough talking center back.

Courier says we're interested in Good again for next season. I think would be a decent option. We know he's a good player, and would take a bit of pressure off the central defender hunt if we knew he was ready.

Tele says that only slim chance of Good next season, but defence is priority.

Quote:

While a loan, in particular, remains a good option, Magpies boss Alan Pardew is understood to have been keen to have a good look at Good in pre-season.

He may not now be fit enough for that but Newcastle do feel when he has recovered, Good could be ready to push for a first-team place with them.

That, and now his injury, is why United boss Jackie McNamara is looking at more defensive options.

“I know Curtis enjoyed his time here and getting him back is a possibility but it’s only one of a few things we’ve been working on,” he said.

“With Gavin Gunning going, central defence is the area I’m focusing on first and I would also like to add an experienced, hard as nails, no nonsense defender to the squad. That’s a priority.”

The manager is keeping his cards close to his chest on that one but did admit the deals he has in mind could take time to finalise.

Mark Millar has been released, with Hilson and Gomis leaving after end of their contracts.

No surprises there.

Less expectedly ...

Quote:

Securing professional contracts for the coming season are the following players: Harry Souttar, Jamie Robson, Matthew Smith, Greig McNaughton, Ryan Booth, Scott Allardyce, Ali Coote and Rafa Malaga. Subject to international clearance, Ola Adeyemo and Aaron Duke will also sign professional contracts.

Guessing Ola Adeyemo is Nigerian and Rafa Malaga is Spanish. Aaron Duke ... American, maybe? Where have these kids appeared from?

Eta: Google suggests Ola is indeed Nigerian though has been on trials around the UK forever; Rafa used to play for some dilution of Real Madrid; and Aaron Duke is Irish and seems a bit of a belltip. Strikers. All of them.
