I think the team should be straight forward enough, barring any injuries. Rado Watson Dillon Gunning Robertson Rankin Paton Dow Armstrong GMS Ciftci Can't see anything but a tight game. First goal is vital, but as they showed against Aberdeen, they can fight back as long as they keep themselves in the game. We should know what to expect, I think we'll concede at least one, so it's down to the front men to win us the game. A nervy 2-1. |

So, last game of the season against unfancied oppositon. Nothing to play for in the league. I predict a dull affair. May as well send the kids out. Anyone know if it's on telly? Likely team: Wilson. Dillon. Gunning. Robertson. ............... Rankin. Paton. ..........Dow. Armstrong. GMS .......................Ciftci. Team I'd pick: Watson, Dillon, Souttar, Robertson ............... Rankin, Paton ........Gauld, Armstrong, GMS ..................... Ciftci |

I think your likely team is right except I would imagine Watson will be picked ahead of Wilson. Dow has been outstanding is worth a starting place ahead of Gauld. |

I can't see Dow not starting. I think he's show consistently over the past few weeks that he's a good player for us to have in a team, especially against a team with a defence that needs unsettled. Gauld might do a magic pass to unlock the defence, but chances of that are low given recent form. |

From what I've seen, I agree. Yet I'd still rather give Gauld the start. Suspect I'll be alone in saying this, but I'd rather see us play brilliantly and lose than play badly and grind out a 0-1 victory. On that basis, I'd pick Gauld not for how he's been playing but because of how he might play. |

Yup. But, to be honest, I really don't mind if St Johnstones win the cup. Sure, I'd prefer United to win. But if they beat us by playing better football then I'd be happy for them and not all that disappointed for us, given I've already seen us win it twice. Mostly, I hope everyone has a nice day out. |

I'm not sure St Johnstone know 'better football'. May to pounce on may mistake, or a goal from a set piece is their plan. I'm not sure we've capable of playing worse football. I'm not sure if McNamara will go for the approach like against rangers, playing Souttar and Gauld, trying to play our passing game and hoping we'll hit our peak. Or going for the grind. But either way, I think Dow right now is capable of having as much of moment of quality and inspiration as Gauld, and that's not necessarily because Gauld is playing below par. |

You really should just stick to the theatre. You're not cut out for this football-supporting malarkey. |

Unusually, I can see where Naebles is coming from this time. I'm not too fussed about winning it either, although I'd play Dow anyway. |

I think we'll win 2-1. Armstrong and Ciftci. O'Halloran for them. 47,745. A win will mean we lead Dundee 6-5. We have only ever won the Cup by beating a team in blue and in a World Cup year.

This is exactly my feeling too. Unless St Johnstone win by foul means, in which case I reserve the right to be miffed, I'll be quite happy to see them win the cup. Is it so odd not to hate the opposition? |
