You know what'd be good? If the charity involved gave the £15k to the club. The club could then use that cash to fund its own concession tickets. Knock £20 or whatever off the coupon cost and sell them though the usual channels, one cheap ticket per full-price sale.

All this stuff about handing out free tickets to the deserving sounds jolly nice but strikes me as entirely unworkable.
In what way unworkable? The charity seems to give out tickets etc, so will likely have a system. Just more tickets in this case.

Better that than random people charging to the club shop in their mercs to pick up cheap tickets. That seems like it'd put people off donating.

Does it?

Here's the website: http://www.unitedforall.co.uk/3.html

The trustees now have the responsibility of finding 400 or so "deserving" fans. I don't envy them that task.

Better, I suggest, to facilitate a discount to people buying tickets. People may abuse that offer, but so what? Wherever there is charity to be abused, you'll find cunts.

Well the club seem happyenough, and have stumped up a few thousand for the fund.

Quote:

The Club today announced it would be making a charitable donation of £10,000. This amount will be shared between the United for All Cup Final Just Giving Fund and a skin cancer charity, with the latter donation being made in support of our player, Jordan Moore, who has been diagnosed with this condition.

Discussions have been held with the Trustees of United for All during this week and we are satisfied that the criteria employed should ensure that the most deserving cases benefit from the generosity of all those who have donated to this fund.

Director Derek Robertson said, "The Club welcome the gesture from United for All and are delighted to be associated with this appeal.

I can't see any issue, it's not hard to find a few hundred kids in Dundee who're under the poverty line.

Club (via Twitter) says 24,000 tickets sold. Including a very professional diagram! http://ow.ly/i/5r7sd/original

Also, proper journalists in London (Henry Winter at the Daily Telegraph) showing an interest in the fund-raising by United For All. https://twitter.com/henrywinter

LOL!

Too late for the a lot of us, though. My wee laddie was deprived his first ever cup final by the nonsense that was this brief sale.

Sure it's tempting to try for some cheaper tickets, but if I want to watch a pillar, I can do that at home.

You know what this shit reminds me of? American nightclubs. As in:

Hi, can I have a table for four?
"Will you be having bottle service?"
What's that?
"You buy a bottle of spirit for the table. We have Smirnoff or Jack Daniels and prices start at $500."
Um ... No.
"Then sorry, all our tables are already taken."
What about all those tables over there?
"Those are reserved for bottle service ..."
But they're empty.
"That's right, they're reserved."
Surely you could let us have one of those?
"Certainly. And will you be having bottle service?"
No.
"Then no."
Look, it's a Tuesday night at 1am. You close at 2am and you're barely half full. Surely ...
"I wish I could help, sir, but we simply don't have anything ..."
Oh look, I appear to have dropped $20 into your top pocket.
"... though perhaps, as a special favour to your party, we could push two tables together upstairs next to the gents, even though that means moving the dry ice machine. But be aware that in those seats you might not get any service before closing time."
Why not?
"It's a restricted-waitress table."
Are those restricted-waitress tables?
"No. Those tables are reserved for bottle service."
Etc.

26,000 gone apparently, and we're selling our final allocation.

Not sure what the final allocation size is though.
