I have two favourite cup semi finals and both are against the Sheep. :banjmp: :ban: :banjmp:

First up the last ditch Welshie header to save us in the last few minutes in 94 :lager:  :lager:

and next taking them apart at Tynecastle on the way to the league cup final in 2008.

I sadly can't make it on Saturday or to the final should we get there but I can only think that sticking a few past The Rangers on there own patch would probably have ranked right up there :)

On a plus side I have missed the last three cup games against Rangers and that has worked out just fine :)

I won't make it - new baby and no-one to go with (and I'm not taking my toddler as much as he's like to go).

Without doubt, the first semi-final v Aberdeen in 1994 (well, the last few minutes of it). The replay wasn't bad either (!), although Aberdeen were the better side that night.

2-1 v Hibs in 2005? . we were rubbish at the time but Jake Ecosse's winner sparked off a league revival that relegated the Diddley Dees who were about 9 points ahead of us at the split

That was some match, that, Zeek.

Also, one around that time vs Aberdeen at Dens.
I saw it from the main-stand enclosure, which basically meant that the pitch was at eye-level.
No idea of the score but, being quite young, I remember it feeling magical.

Semis are shite.. Their only function is to get you to the final climax.

Anyone who remembers semis has got a problem.

Oh, I don't know.
The build up and anticipation to a semi, especially one you know you'll enjoy, can be as fulfilling as anything.
Especially since there's the added seduction of knowing there's more to cum come.
Once the final climax arrives, it's over in what seems like an instant.

I seem to remember the losses more than the wins, but the Aberdeen game was a good one.

Think a good chance Saturday will be memorable.

Don't remember any Scottish Cup semis though the 86/87 quarter final v Forfar stands out in my memory. On the strength of that result I wrote to Jim McLean to assure him that though this team wasn't as skillful as other past United sides they were undoubtedly unbeatable. Not claiming any responsibility for what followed.

UEFA cup semi final recalled because my brother grudgingly asked me to get him a ticket for the game and I was hoping he would get to see what a good team we were. Luggy doubled up on and constantly fouled in the wake of his scintillating performances against Barca, two disallowed United goals I think and an early Ferguson header that narrowly cleared the bar.

UEFA cup semi, I was at a school disco in Arbroath.
I vividly remember the dj's announcing the second goal and leaping onto the stage to see the replay on their black-and-white portable.
Got home to a wide-eyed, dumbfounded father and a bemused looking mother, who evidently rarely seen my dad so animated!
Happy days.

I don't remember any cup semi finals. Even the UEFA cup semi (was it versus Barcelona or BMG? Genuinely not sure). This thread has reminded me that, win or lose, the memory will be put to the back of my mind by 3pm and totally erased by August. Thanks, thread.
