It's a tough call for me between Dow and Gauld.

Dow's running power will be of use, but Gauld's work rate is also very good.

Dow's been playing well, so would be harsh to leave him out. Gauld has the potential to open up Rangers in a way that Dow can't.

I'm leaning towards Gauld. In a sticky game against a defensive team, Gauld might be the one to open things up.

But then again, Dow's got important goals in the past.

I also hope we're practising penalties.

I assume you mean practicing not getting upset when penalty decisions go against us at Ibrox.

All aspects of Penalties.

I want someone to step up confidently if we get one.

We need GMS and Ciftci not be be nervous about taking penalties given their previous misses. We need a team of people ready to take penalties and be confident with it.

I want Cierzniak to know where each of the Rangers players will likely place their penalties.

Of course, we all hope it doesn't go to penalty shoot out. But if it does, we need to be ready.

I think it will be a battle early on and Dow's got a bit more bulk.
Also, he's been playing well enough to retain his place.
Once the game begins to stretch, Gauld will run riot against a tired, lower division side.

Seems that we are appealing against Jammienackar's touchline ban, so he will indeed be on the touchline at Ibrox.
Quote:

"I am obviously disappointed,” McNamara said. “I will be discussing the matter with the club and we will consider whether or not to appeal. I would have liked to have attended the hearing in person and asked for it to be held over until the afternoon. As it was, I felt it was impossible for me as Dundee United manager to miss our training two days ahead of a Scottish Cup semi-final.”

The inference being, "I didn't turn up so they trebled my detention." If that's true, it's juvenile. If it's not true, it's juvenile.

Hoping Gauld starts, as a statement of intent more than anything. We should be turning up expecting to play football rather than working out how to counter whatever anti-football they choose to deploy. Also, the Robertson / Gauld / GMS / Cifci route through teams is a joy to watch (when it works).

And Armstrong, he's the orchestrator in chief for me. My cheeks are almost as splayed for him as are Whazza's.

Am now safely (?) ensconced on a train that will take me through Wishaw, Bellshill and Brig'ton. Alongside lots of young men with at least eight tins of alcohol each.
Wish me luck...

So, what's the feeling, caveats aside?
I genuinely can't see past us taking four or five off them, possibly more.
A scoreline that needs clarifying with a word* would be awesome.
I'm going to say 6-1. First-half Çiftçi hat-trick. McCulloch after half-time to give yhem a glimmer of hope and then Robertson, Gunning and Gauld.

* Rangers 0 Dundee Utd 8 (eight)

2:1 them. Ciftci red card in first half. 2 pens for them, of which they miss the first. Mcnmr sent to stand within 5 mins.

Craig Levein takes over as Rangers manager at half time.

Tell you what, VVassa, if Armstrong won't have you, I'd be delighted to have you as my lover, you ray-of-sunshine, you.

Decent XI. No Dillon. Wilson in for experience, I guess, rather than pace.

ierzniak,
Wilson, Gunning, Souttar, Robertson
Paton, Rankin
Mackay-Steven, Armstrong, Gauld
Ciftci

Away win. 1-2. Gauld, Robertson.

Job done. Had to switch the radio off as it sounded too much like someone wanted a Rangers equaliser.
