Defeated by a hat-trick. Just hope it's no a hat-trick oe defeats. The outfield squad minus 1, were simply no good enough to beat the farmers, who came oot guns blazin. If he'd made 3 or 4 changes, might've had a chance. Sendin aff was the 1st nail.

Pressure is rising slightly, lot on the next game. But we're still in a good place. We just need to get some confidence back.

Confidence is, indeed, the key.
Easy to lose; harder to gain.

Hopefully, the first XI will be in place for the Aberdeen game.
That should give us a chance of getting a result.

I'd be happy with a point but, equally, wouldn't be surprised if we whup them.

Our form right now is unbelievable, and we've not really had a bad performance since Inverness. This cannot last.

So what is going to bring it crashing to an end?

The easiest, quickest problem would be for Robertson to sustain injury or suspension. We don't have an obvious replacement for him, and he adds so much to our threat going forward.

Any circumstances that result in Goodie starting would also be bad. When he came on against Hearts, he looked like he was on a different, lower level than everyone else. Control and first touch has never been Goodrooy's strong point, but without doing anything drastically wrong, stupid or illegal, he looked out of his depth compared to what we have got used to over the past few weeks.

Of course, the apocalyptic option is a bid for several players in January. Hopefully our cashflow is strong enough that we don't need to sell anyone, but a team-wrecking "Gauld, Souttar, Robertson & Armstrong for £10m" would be hard to refuse. If I could advise any biggish club how to spend £10m, that's what they should do. Say Villa or Fulham.

Lennon could make it clear he was leaving The Celtics at the end of the season, and that would unsettle everyone if it looked like Macnajackiman was his replacement.

And of course there's the possibility the Law erupts. But at least Dundee would be f*cked as well.
Just bumping this one for nostalgia value. As it turned out, nothing went wrong. Phew.

Was just thinking about that, Naebs. It's not clear that anything in particular went wrong. No one big thing anyway.

Generally, I think other teams started to take us seriously, worked out how to stop us playing, and we lost confidence.

We're still due a few injuries to key players, too.

What if we never win again? A 3-0 rodgering from Ross fecking County is fairly grim stuff...

Not quite sure what to make of this stats thing from STV.

The conclusion they take from the data is that United were lucky before Christmas and have been unlucky since, without a drastic dip in form. That seems random. Personally, I took from it that United's winning run was powered largely by a 17-year-old kid, who like all teenagers has reacted to attention by becoming clumsy and self conscious. Perhaps he will get laid in Spain and we can pick up again.

Stats for the last 12 are not that bad considering.
P 12
W 6
D 2
L 4

As I've mentioned before, we'd probably feel far happier right now as fans if the team had W4 D7 L1 in the last 12 because it'd seem we were doing better, but over the run we'd have picked up less points.

It's also a bad idea to score all your goals in the first half: if you are 4-0 up at half time and end up winning 4-2 the fans come away thinking less of the performance than if you were 2 down and ended up winning 3-2. It's human nature.

We're still comfortably in the top 6 and - surprisingly - still only 10 points (4 wins) behind 2nd. Not undoable if we can start picking up wins again.

I'd still have suspected we'd be far lower in the league by this stage. But again that's the trouble with scoring all your goals before half time.

Verdict: don't panic.

It's ok to panic now though.

Sheesh, remember when our biggest worry was having nothing to worry about?

(It's still not a volcano though. Never was.)

Got a shovel? It's the only way we'll know.

Ok, to explain:

It's made of igneous (volcanic) rock but isn't a volcano, i.e. it has never been capable of putting lava out through the earth's crust. It's an igneous intrusion, created from volcanic activity but the lava never got through the crust, rather hardening underground. As the softer rock around it was eroded after the ice age the harder rock of the Law was left behind to form a hill. There was lots of volcanic activity in the area and there were several active volcanoes millions of years ago, but the Law was not one of those volcanoes itself.

Without explaining the basics of geology in a rather dull lecture fashion that you could get on pretty much any website about the subject I can't really put it better than that.
