Away at Fir Park next.

For the first time in ages, it doesn't seem like a fortnight since we last played them. The feeling of dread whenever this fixture has come up recently has disappeared for me since we've started picking up points against them.

So a guaranteed Motherwell win. 5 nil. Maybe ten.

I would consider attendance but Murwel persist in their prohibitive pricing policies which would see me stung for no less than £40 sterling to take a 7 year old and an 8 year old to their shitty ground with the one ridiculous out-sized stand.

Were I a Tim it would cost me £46 which is even ridiculouser.

United to edge a five-goal thriller. 0-1. 1-1. 2-1. 3-1. 3-2.

Benny from ABBA arrested outside the ground before the match.

Oops. Wrong thread.

Ah, nuts. Since I'm here: 1-3. Graham hat-trick.

Must be time for a dull 0-0, with Ciftci booked for something random.

A Ciftci buoyant from escaping heavy punishment for his ICT antics is bound to get sent off for something daft like nutting a ball boy.

I predict tears for Stuart "United are supposed to be favourites for second place or whatever" McCall. Only question is will they be projectile tears like Gaza's or rivulets trickling down his cheeks?

1-0 United.

Oh and Gauld, GMS, Ciftci, Armstrong to be targeted with fouls ignored by refs.

Never been more confident before a game at Fir Park and made no secret of my belief that United will hose them to the Well boys in the office today.

I agree. But it will be a hosing of the 1-0 variety.
Motherwell's threadbare defence will prove doughty, giving succour to the home ranks.
Meanwhile United's much heralded attacking riches will seem disjointed and aimless, with only a long punt to Graham finally separating the sides.
I have spoken. It will be thus.

Dunno what you're talking about Reekie, this is the most exciting United attacking force I've since 1997 at the very least, and most likely since 1988. But for a ropey start while the young boys found their feet (teenagers, pffft) they've been uniformly sensational and Murwell will be take a pumping of the highest order.

Second place by at least half a dozen points by season's end, less than 15 adrift of ra Sellick.

Now - I'm going to attempt to watch the second half of Martyrs, accompanied by only a couple of small Bells. Anyone managed to sit through the whole thing in one sitting? Yeuch!

That's quite some post.

I can agree with you about this year's United team but I daren't say it out loud.

Hope you got to the end of Martyrs, otherwise it might have seemed like a disgusting pointless exploitative torture porn (and porn) ordeal.

I agree entirely with you, Conan.
However, this week everyone's chattering about contract extensions, and free-flowing football, and exciting youngsters, as well as the opposition's defensive woes.
Hence the inevitability of a dull game won by the simplest of goals.

Cierzniak, Wilson, Souttar, Gunning, Robertson, Paton, Rankin, Armstrong, Gauld, Mackay-Steven, Ciftci

Seems to be the best team we can put out at the moment.

If United can keep that XI together for next season we might, just might, have a tilt at winning the league.
