One thing that's for sure is that Flood isn't a matchwinner and Daly is a somewhat spent force, so I don't think an either-or works very well when comparing them to this Goodroy deal. A '~12 league goals plus cup goals plus season ticket sales plus merchandise sales plus ongoing morale booster' return would I suppose make it somewhat worth it. If he plays well and Blackburn shift him on then we'll also see a percentage of the sale. It's a gamble and therefore a 'proof of the pudding'-er. We'll see by January. |

Alternatively, £150k is circa 750 season ticket sales. And even without Goodwillie you'd still need to pay a striker of some form, so the actual marginal cost is probably £75k, which is ~375 season tickets. Will spending the former provide the latter? Dunno. But it's not my money to spend. Personally, if I had £150k I'd short Kazakhstan 10-yr CDS, but that's unlikely to get us into the semis of the Skol Cup either. So I reiterate: panem et circenses, my arsewitted friend. Enjoy the ride. |

Makes that summer camp in Spain seem trivial... I can't see us actually spending £150k for him - it's a pretty high amount to pay for a 6 month loan, considering we had some first team players leave for the sake of a difference of much less than that. |

We all know what it's like when you've been living on a meagre income for too long. You get tired of counting the 2p's in the jar and cutting the base off the toothpaste tube to get that last squirt. It's exhausting, joyless and dispiriting. So, one day, you just snap. You take your credit card out of the freezer, walk down to the shops and buy a solid gold statuette of Kate Moss angling her undercarriage like a ballistic rocket launcher. Such actions are inevitable reactions to enforced austerity. So Stephen Thompson hit the "Kate Moss statuette" point of despair, and as a result we'll get six months of entertainment (soap opera type, though possibly also football type). I'm not entirely displeased with that outcome, in spite of its ridiculousness. Money? Fuck it, who cares. What's done's done. Stop being so Dundonian about what things cost. |

Some of the players from last year felt they weren't getting paid enough so they sold their soul to the devil and destroyed their legacy by joining The Huns and The Sheep. Times must be hard when men are willing to stoop that low. But with regards to this loan signing, the truth is we won't know if it's a good or bad move until TheDean has spoken. I think he's named after The Dean in National Lampoon's Animal House so that is the be all and end all on the matter. Also, the other day i found an old Alba recording on my Tivo box of a game from last season and i watched the start of it which was about five minutes of Jingsy the mascot behaving in the most moronic fashion I have ever seen. He was trying to get the crowd psyched up and he was doing all this braindead gesturing as if to say ''Come on, let's have it''. He was wandering around like someone who had just been let out of a mental hospital, all these agressive tics, then he wandered into the centre circle and started bantering with the sheep's mascot, sort of staring eachother down, then doing some playful shadow boxing. I don't know if Broxy Bear does that kind of shit. To put Jingsy's behaviour in perspective you have to imagine the stadium completely empty and the man underneath the suit naked, then it becomes clear that Jingsy is not well. I don't know what wages he's on but it will be less than Goodwillie, yet the pair of them exhibit similar traits in character when they have an audience. |

Oh? Fair enough. I'd assumed £200, based on nothing much. Think the last one I bought was £174, though that was a while back. I reiterate: Dundonians delight in grumbling about the price of things. It's charmless. The McManus Galleries would be 10 times as popular if they put price tags on all the paintings. So the club's chosen to piss away cash on the hire of an idiot savant. That wouldn't have been my choice, but none of it is my choice because it's not my money. So how about, rather than moaning "michty me that cash could've paid for a resurfacing of Gussie Park," let's just sit back and enjoy the pantomime that's about to unfold. |

Its a totally Levein-logical signing-if Goodie is going to recover his career he's going to have to do it here and now. He was looking pretty fit and well at training judging by the #Arabzone pics and he doens't seem to be worrying to much about the bint with the bun in the oven. it might just work. |

We seem to be about 1,000 season tickets down says Thompson. Cost of Goodwillie also down, to about £100k. By the weekend, it'll be a reasonable £50k. |

Not displeased about that. Kudos's showreel makes him look the best player in a Sunday pub league, while his Twitter suggests a reasonably level-headed type who doesn't often take pictures of teammates on the crapper. Worth the gamble, I guess. (It also cuts the chances of us signing Kris Boyd, so that's good.) |
