Oh for fucks sakes!
Basher buggers off for free, along with Daly and Willo.
And Russell ditches us for the smallest fee possible.
Presumably for the biggest signing-on fee Viola can muster.
As an aside, the Celtics, our champions and last-sixteen representatives, have to negotiate THREE qualifying rounds to get into the Champions League proper.
(NB - I'm no lover of the Celtics).
What is the point?!

Fuck this.
I'm done (in).

f*ck this.

As a reply to an aside, bizarre eh?

But think they're in the Champions side of the draw (and seeded?), so they'd probably rather have 3 rounds against the Champions of Lithuania, Finland and Croatia than a single tie against the likes of Arsenal or Milan??

I'm usually quite positive, but there's something about his summer that seem ominous. Even when we lost dixon, gomis, buaben etc , we seemed to have cover or be prepared. If russell goes, we've currently 1 striker who's never played at SPL level before.

And Rory Boulding whose sister is a demon at rounders. Although he'll be gone too - please.

It is looking like a dismal close season. I will probably buy the cheap season tickets for my kids again because the option of paying for them on a weekly basis is prohibitive, but any thoughts I harboured about getting one myself are marooned on rocks at the Cape of No Hope.

Maybe get a ticket for Glasgow Rocks instead...

This feels like we're heading back to the Luggy/Smith/McCall/Brewster days - in terms of bobbing about the bottom six. The stuff about Gauld and Soutter was especially depressing. Short of Thompson coming out and saying there isn't much point folks, why would anyone really bother right now.

Good luck with they season tickets United.

Yeah, this is the impression I'm getting.

Proven SPL players in Daly, Douglas, Russell and probably Flood gone.
Gauld and Souttar possibly gone, but looking unlikey I reckon.
Boulding, Tornstrand and McLean likely not re-signed.

Rolls of the dice in Graham (CF), Erskine (L/C/R MID), Paton (C MID/RB) and Connolly (LB) in so far.

That leaves us with fading lights Dillon and Rankin as our experienced pros, and Gunning, Armstrong, GMS and Watson as the bright spots with little we know we can really rely on in reserve for a top 6 spot (e.g. Gardyne, Millar, Gauld, Souttar).

Findus' Dundee United 2013 Summer Shopping Spree Suggestion:

* Left-back/generic defender x1 (in addition to Connolly) - experienced
* Centre-back (~6ft4/14st brick shithouse, Romanian, 70s sideburns, answers to the name 'Bison') - experienced
* Striker x2 - experienced

Nominations from the free agents floating around? Kris Boyd, anyone? :ermm:

God dammit. Well the other Queens Park lad we've been sniffing around then, the LB.

2x LB needed :smack:

17-year old Connolly, btw:

cmon fellow arabs - chins up ..... it could be worse surely (think of Hearts and Rangers)? Selling JR is our only option as he has taken the decision not to sign a contract extension - hence a freeby next summer otherwise. Leaves the board with little choice in my view. Disappointed with his decision but that's life as a supporter of a small club of which United are. For me JR will be the first of many over the next few years so we should brace ourselves for this and invest in hungry players - of which Jackie appears to be doing.

Have renewed my season tickets already - for me, my 2 kids and my father - and am looking forward to next season already. Remember if DUFC are struggling financially, we are/will not be the only ones in the SPL - fact. CMON YE ARABS !!!!!

Man, I almost felt something stir there, Kinda.

All it would take is for ST to say Gauld & Souttar are the future of the club and there's no way they're going anywhere. It might be a lie, but I need to hear it.

Have to side with your thinking there kinda. I think we'll do no too badly next Season. OK we've lost Daly, Douglas and potentially Flood. But we've gained Graham, Paton and Erskine. Russell might be a hard one to take, as long as he doesnt join the Little Green Men.

Like you I got my Season Ticket 3 or 4 weeks ago, and canna wait for the start oe next Season. As you say, it's the only we can truly support the Club financially as well as in spirit. (unless you're a beer drinker like me).

Realise that not everyone can go to every match. For a whole variety of reasons. I for example, with the exception of the semi at Hampden, never got further than McDiarmid Park, whereas some of my mates chose to go to as many/more Away matches than they did at Home.

God forbid we would ever ourselves in the football boots of those at the other side of the road.
