I believe in the existence of a being that nobody has ever seen.

B
I don't believe in that same being that nobody has ever seen

A
Aha! But it's up to you to prove that this being that nobody has ever seen doesn't exist before your opinion carries more weight than mine!

So you see, findus, you have just argued that people who believe in fairies have a more credible position than people who don't believe in fairies because they can't prove that fairies don't exist.

Nice one.

I'm not sure I can say it any other way than I did. The player ends up in weak positions.
Set - is this your main objection to the scheme from the player's point of view? If not, what are any other problems the player might have with it?

Well, about 4 people have listed reasons previously, it's not quite fairy dragon situation.

edit : And as added bonus, that might also answer the post above I didn't see before I posted.

What are these reasons? Please list them, as it will really help for clarity.

How about we divide them up -

"Reasons The Player Should Not Sign" and "Reasons The Club Should Not Offer".

"Hello, new employee. Here's a 50% bonus. If you do well over the next two years you can keep it. If you do badly we'll claw it back in 2016."
Complete the sentence: "I would not accept this offer because ___________________________."

That's not an entirely fair question.

The player could do well and still have the bonus clawed back in his final year if he decided to see out his contract.

'do well and do badly aren't defined.'

'do well and do badly aren't defined.'
Yes they are. There are 14 fucking pages of definitions.

"Doing well" means earning the offer of an extended contract. "Doing badly" means not earning the offer of an extended contract. That's all.

Of course, the player may not want an extended contract. He may be the one in a hundred players who can move up a level. And if that's you, there's nothing whatsoever to stop you seeing your contract out, should you choose. You've still benefited by getting a chunk of your wages before you've actually earned them. That still makes it a better deal for you, the hypothetical player signing his first professional contract. Though I guess it's plausible that you, the hypothetical player signing his first professional contract, may be too dense see that.

Well no, it precisely doesn't answer the question. What are the main objections? Since those objecting have so far declined to list their objections, I've done it.

It seems to me there are only three:

1) It's bad for the club because it will result in overpaying players who ask for and get new contracts with us after the first year or two of their frontloaded contract.

2) It's bad for the player because he loses power in negotiations with the club regarding wages and transfers.

3) It's bad for the player because he will get paid a low wage in his final year of his contract.

Have I missed anything?

Are any of these descriptions of objections incomplete?

While we wait for the naysayers to confirm their objections to frontloading, here is a nice picture of Johnny & GMS.

Whatever could be taking them so long?

For speed, can just say yes that's the list, then you can state why we're wrong.

As an aside, has anyone emailed the club about this?

Edit - another aside, we do realise we're down to five posters now?

In this thread or on the site?

25 people visited in last week, 17 in last day which seems about usual.
