He's been speaking at the Labour conference, outlining his vision.

He doesn't have the best of luck, doing it on the day a littl girl goes missing and takes over the news coverage.

Still, anyone warmed to him in the last 2 years? Does he have a chance?

He doesn't seem to have changed much, but people might know who he is now.

Wonder if Jimmy Saville was invited to the party?

Miliband's main policy seems to be:

Quote:

Creating a "Technical Baccalaureate" to improve skill levels among 18-year-olds who do not want go to university
This would include completing a work experience programme and school-based technical training
Those getting the new award would also have to pass English and maths courses
And the £1bn-a-year government-funded apprenticeships programme would be run by businesses, rather than ministers

I'm not sure that would make that much difference. The basic english and maths are a struggle at the best of times, even many graduates skills are pretty poor.

It doesn't matter what Miliband says or doesn't say. He is not likeable, charismatic or personable.

So he claims he's like Disraeli (a tory) , recycles speeches he's already made this year in order to appear he can speak without notes, fundamentally disagrees that Scotland is a nation, and repeats the outright lie about all millionaires getting a £40,000 cheque from Cameron and doesn't reveal any policy worth the label.

Cue Guardian media swooning all round. The geek shall inherit the earth (south of Scotland).

It wasn't just the Guardian who were impressed. notable Tory media types (who were no doubt lining up to give him a good kicking) were impressed as well.

I may be proved wrong, but personally think this was a game changer in terms of the next election, the Tories greatest hope was of turning it into a President style election. Not sure they're quite as confident about that strategy now.

He reminds me of Osborne a bit, people probably won't relate or like him much, but as long as he's out of the way, he'd probably be popularish with enough people. But as the leader, still seems a bit not quite right.

Polls seem to be a little better for him however.

I agree with Chippy on his voice - it's utterly unbearable, especially on the radio. I generally have to turn it off if he's speaking for any more than a soundbite.

With him and that utter c*nt Balls as the top two in Labour, they're not making it easy for people to vote for them.

Does a voice really matter? Is it really that unbearable. Enough to not vote for someone even if you agree with most of their policies?

Yes. Politics is showbiz for the ugly, but it pushes it too far to also have a candidate with an intolerable voice.

They want votes don't they? We the proles want wined and dined, not whined and whined. You can have that if you like ;)
